Uless Askin Jr.

Uless Askin, Jr., affectionately known as Ulysses Askins, Jr. (“Uless”, “June”, “Flat Top”) departed this life on Monday, February 20, 2023 at the age of 83. Ulysses was born on September 15, 1939 to the late Lillian Jackson Ovete and Uless Askin, Sr. He was the brother of the late Gloria Askins Dillon, the late Lillian Ovete Banks, and the late Lawrence Ovete, Jr. Ulysses spent his formative years in Plaquemine, LA and was a 1961 graduate of Iberville High School. He served in the United States Army where he became a certified diesel mechanic and licensed commercial driver. He worked as a driver at Borden Milk Company in Metairie and retired after 30 years. After retirement, he began working for RFC/United Rentals where he worked as a diesel mechanic until he retired in 2017. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He was also a member of the Soul Knights Motorcycle Club, where he previously served as President, and was a member of Crescent City Lodge #293 where he obtained his 3rd degree and honorary 33rd degree, respectively. He is survived by one son, Rory Askin, Sr. (Joy), three grandchildren, a special friend, Pearline “Bobby” Foley, one sister-in-law, Brenda Ovete, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Mount Triumph Baptist Church, Mount Olive Baptist Church (Plaquemine, LA) and The Asia Baptist Church, also employees of RSD/United Rentals and Borden Milk Company are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Mount Triumph Baptist Church, 1734 Fern St., New Orleans, LA on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. Visitation begins at 2:00 P.M. A second service will be held at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 27320 Hwy 405 (Plaquemine, LA) on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at 3:00 pm. Visitation will begin 2:00 PM. Internment will be Monday, March 6, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Kaddoville Cemetery (Plaquemine, LA). Arrangement by D.W.
