Rose Marie Wiltz Pilart

Rose Marie Wiltz Pilart was born on March 14, 1933 to the late Ernest and Florence Wiltz, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was one of 12 children and was educated in the Orleans Parish Public School System. Rose worked as a private sitter at Chateau de Notre Dame for many years assisting residents with their daily activities. She enjoyed caregiving and working with people. Rose accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior of her life at an early age, later becoming a member of Mt. Rock Baptist Church. While worshipping there, she served as an usher until moving to Houston, TX after Hurricane Katrina. After relocating to Houston, she joined The Fountain of Praise under the leadership of Pastor Remus Wright and served in the senior ministry until her health started to fail. As a young adult, she met and married Walter Leo Pilart, Sr., bearing six children, Walterine Pilart, Catherine Pilart Weir, Walter Leo Pilart, Jr., Rose Pilart Rich, Robin Pilart, and Sharon Pilart. She was a dedicated and loving mother who devoted her life to her children and family. She was known for greeting everyone with open arms and a big smile. Rose Marie was affectionately known as Mama, Aunt Marie, Ms. Marie, or Grandma. She loved everyone and showed it with her kindness. The love for her sisters was evident. Before Rose Marie moved to Houston, she talked to or visited her sisters daily. Even the hundreds of miles that separated them didn’t stop the daily communication with Aunt Betty. They would spend hours on the phone talking. For the last four and a half years, she resided at Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Center. She was loved by all, she loved participating in all the weekly activities, and enjoyed the sing-alongs every Saturday. One of the necklaces she enjoyed wearing was one she made in beading class. A member of the activity staff said, “She was the biggest asset to our activities department and the biggest supporter of everything we do. We will truly miss her!” On Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the age of 91, Rose Marie Wiltz Pilart was called from labor to reward and entered into eternal rest. Rose Marie leaves loving memories to cherish; two daughters, Rose Pilart Rich and Robin Pilart; one sister, Shirley Williams; six grandchildren, Sharon Lewis, Yada Stancliffe, Keith Pilart, Corey Pilart, Robert Mayberry IV, and LaTasha (John) Smith; eleven great-grandchildren, Juvé Pilart, Cainaan Pilart, Corey Pilart Jr., Jeremy Allen, Chardia Stancliffe, Charles Stancliffe, Kierra Pilart, DeJuan Parker, Dwayne Day Jr., Jaila Day, and Walter Parker Jr.; three great-great-grandchildren, Khloe Williams, Micheal Parker, and Damon Parker; one daughter-in-law, Dorethea Pilart; three sisters-in-law, Alice Spiller, Virgie Hall, and Geraldine Pilart; one God-child, Constance Celestine; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Leo Pilart, Sr.; three daughters, Walterine Pilart, Catherine Pilart Weir, and Sharon Pilart; one son, Walter Pilart Jr.; two grandchildren, Atiba Pilart and Walter Parker Sr.; three great-grandchildren, Atiba Pilart Jr., TaWane Williams, and Micheal Lewis; one nephew, Joseph Reff; one son-in-law, Mario Rich. Her parents, Ernest Wiltz Sr. and Florence Wiltz; four sisters, Florence Wiltz, Alice Reff, Naomi Wiltz, and Yvonne Reff; six brothers, Ernest Wiltz Jr., Henry Wiltz, Eugene Wiltz, Robert Wiltz, Joseph Wiltz, and Rosevelt Wiltz; one brother-in-law, Clarence Williams; one sister-in-law, Pearl Richard. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend her Funeral Service at Greater King Solomon MBC, 3305 Audubon Street on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 11:00 am.
