Richard Johnson Sr

Richard Warren Johnson Sr, 65 a native of New Orleans, Louisiana passed away peacefully at Passages Hospice on Thursday, May 24, 2018. His parents, Irey Johnson Jr. and Geraldine Morris Johnson, preceded him in death. His grandparents, Irey Sr. and Bessie Johnson, Curtis Sr. and Rozelia Morris, 1 uncle and 5 aunts, also preceded him in death. Richard is survived by two sons, Richard Warren Johnson Jr and Shawn Lamont Johnson Sr., whom he shared with former spouse, Carol Patterson, nine grandchildren, Shawn Lamont Johnson Jr., Travon Johnson, Richinque Johnson, Irey Johnson, Sean Johnson, Jerrius Johnson, Jarkora Johnson, Jaliyah Johnson, Justice Johnson, and one great-grandchild, Shari Johnson. He is also survived by six siblings, Irish Johnson Montgomery (Emile), Anita Marie Johnson, Gerald Vernon Johnson (Stephanie), Michael Anthony Johnson (Antoinette), Cheryl Lynn Johnson, and Shaun Johnson Craig (Rev. James Craig), one aunt Louberta Morris, one godchild Derrick Anderson, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. The late Reverend John H. Mack at Oak Grove Baptist Church in New Orleans, La. baptized Richard. He was a wonderful singer and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Prior to his stroke, Richard would entertain family and friends with his rendition of the Temptations, Al Green and Isaac Hayes songs with his favorite song being,” I Wish It Would Rain” by the Temptations. He was also very protective of his family and had a great sense of humor. Richard graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in New Orleans, where he was a star football player. He also attended the University of New Orleans. Richard worked for many years at American Bank and Delta Petroleum. Relatives, friends of the family, members of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Gloryland Mount Gillian, True Vine Baptist Church, St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church in Pflugerville, TX, staff of CuraHealth, and Passages Hospice are invited to attend the home going celebration at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 9, 2018 Rhodes Chapel, 3933 Washington Ave. Rev.
