Quencill Watts

Quencill Watts the daughter of the late Green and Mildred Watts was born on August 29, 1935. She was one of ten children. Quencill accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at South Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Prentiss, Mississippi. She was educated in the Mississippi School System and later moved to New Orleans, Louisiana. Quencill married X.L. McGee, Sr., and to this union raised three sons Thomas, Sr., X.L., Jr., and Daral McGee. She was employed as a domestic worker for many years. Later employed by the Louisiana School Board System where she retired as a custodian. Quencill joined Greater King Solomon Church where she served as an usher. She moved her membership to St. John Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Gilbert Washington. After Reverend Washington transition to his heavenly home, Quencill served under Reverend Donald Boutte where she was the Usher Board President for many years. As a faithful member, she took great pleasure in serving Reverend Donald Boutte. Quencill was a member of Martha Grand Chapter Order of Eastern Star where she served as a Grand Officer and U.S. Flag bearer for many years. She loved to travel and had visited several different countries. Quencill had several hobbies, but her favorite was gardening. Quencill was preceded in death by her (former) husband X.L. McGee, Sr.; one son X.L., Jr.; her parents Green and Mildred Watts; five brothers Curtis “Smiley”, Clinton, James “Pee Wee”, Argainne Watts and Todd Armstrong; three sisters Magaline Watts Toney, Kathleen Watts Tuckers, and Clara Watts Ashley, and her stepfather Thomas Armstrong “Daddy Tom”. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons Thomas McGee, Sr., Daral (Lona) McGee; one sister Claudine (Frank) Alexander of New Orleans, Louisiana; one brother Thomas (Janette) Armstrong, Jr. of Naperville, Illinois, and one sister in law Mary Louise Watts; five grandchildren Thomas, Jr., Vincent, Aaron, Darrell, Lyne’Ara; seven great-grandchildren Xanya, Marisha, Trevor, Miles, Darrell, Jr., Ja’Kai, and Ja’Kobe along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Service honoring the life of Ms. Quencill McGee at St. John the Baptist Church, 8540 Panola Street, New Orleans, LA 70118 on Saturday, January 28, 2022 at 10:00 am. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am until 10:00 am. Reverend Donald Boutte is officiating. Interment: St. Louis Cemetery #3, 3421 Esplanade Ave. New Orleans, LA 70119. Arrangements by D.W.
