Nathaniel Banks

Nathaniel “Nat” Banks, a good and faithful servant departed this life on Monday September 22, 2025, at the age of 89. Devoted father of Troy Banks Reimonenq, Tammie Banks Warren, Tresa Banks-Lewis (Kevin) and Marc Henry. Grandfather of Kevin Washington Jr., Roy and Ryan Reimonenq, Kris Warren, Kevin Jr., Kyle and Kendall Lewis, Taraji, Mariah, Marqulea, Marc Jr and Milan Henry. Son of the late Henry and Ursula Banks Sr. Brother of the late Elodie McMillan, Merrieum Jimerson, Ursula Alexander, Clifford, Henry Jr., Lester and Oliver Banks. Also survived by 10 Great-Grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Nat was very prideful about his service in the US Navy. After retiring and hanging his boots up from a lengthy career as a cement mixer driver for Jahncke, Louisiana Industries (LI) and Lafarge, he worked part-time for the Hollygrove Multipurpose Senior Center. He was an avid sports enthusiast; from his time playing baseball with a few Hollygrove barroom teams to rooting for his beloved Saints and watching Major League Baseball games. He also had a passion for watching Westerns, listening, and dancing to music, and was always the life of the party at family gatherings. Nat will always be remembered by his oldest 7 grandsons as the coolest, stylish, hippest Pawpaw who always greeted them with a fist bump and “Where Y’at Jack”. Pastors, officers and members of Nazareth Baptist Church and neighboring churches, relatives and friends of the family, employees of Richard’s Disposal, ODA-Child Support Division, The University of New Orleans and the staff and senior citizens of the Hollygrove Multipurpose Senior Center are invited to attend his Celebration of Life on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 10:00am at Nazareth Baptist Church 9108 Pritchard Place New Orleans LA 70118.
