Miguel Gerard Jones

Miguel Gerard Jones, was called home suddenly by the Lord on Monday, March 23, 2015 at the age of 56. Miguel was born on October 28, 1958 New Orleans, Louisiana and was a life-long resident. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Lisa Garnett Jones, and children, Courtney Jones and Christopher Jones, Sr. and grandson Christopher Jones, Jr.; his mother, Helena Rohman Jones; brothers, Melvin C. (Clara) Jones, Jr. of New Orleans, LA; Christopher (Angie) Lee; sisters, Sykina Gaston of New Orleans, LA; Selina (Rob) Vik of Orlando, FL; Paula (Wilbert) Thomas of Douglasville, GA; Zaida Monconduit of New Orleans, LA; his twin sister, Michelle (Dr. Michael) Banks of Las Vegas, NV and a host of sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews and cousins; Miguel was preceded in death by his father, Melvin C. Jones, Sr.; Miguel attended Kennedy Sr. High School and received an Associate Degree from Delgado Junior College in Electrical Technology. Miguel worked over twenty years for the Orleans Parish School Board, owned Crescent City Snacks at the New Orleans International Airport and more recently as a Water Operator at the Veolia Waste Water Treatment Plant. Miguel was a loving father to Courtney and Chris. His grandson, “Lil Chris” was his mini me and a shining light in his PawPaw’s life. He enjoyed family time with his kids and grandchild. He was a true friend to many. To his mother and family, he was the go to handyman. He might not come when you wanted him to, but he always came. His wife Lisa was the love of his life and he was the love of her life. Relatives and friends of the family, employees of Veolia North America and Orleans Parish School Board are invited to attend the Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 4700 Pineda St. on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 10:30 am; Visitation will begin at 9:00 am; Interment: St. Louis Cemetery # 3; A special thank you to DW Rhodes Funeral Home for their loving care of our loved one; In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bethel Colony South Transformation Ministry at 4114 Old Gentilly Road, New Orleans, LA 70126.
