Marjorie Ann Simon Joseph

Marjorie Ann Simon Joseph departed this life on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at the age of 83 in Hermitage, Tennessee where she was a resident for the past 8 years. Marjorie was born in Reserve, Louisiana to the late Maurice and Ida Simon. She was was preceded in death by her older sister Carol Mary (Leonard P.) Davis, and Alvin Maurice (Edith R.) Simon. She was the wife of the late Lionel P. Joseph, Sr.; and is survived by 4 loving children: Regina Ann (Jerry) Harris; Monique Marie Joseph; Lionel P. Joseph, Jr. and the former Lucinda Joseph; and Sean Simon (Erika) Joseph; five grandsons: Lionel C. Joseph, Justin L. Joseph, Jared A. Harris, and Symon F. Joseph; and one granddaughter, Elyse V. Joseph. She was also blessed with one great-grandson, Lionel C. Joseph, IV. She also leaves behind nephews Basil T.(Adelle) Davis, Leonard Brian Davis, the late Kevin M. (Juwana) Simon, David Joseph, Valentine Joseph, brother-in-law David Joseph, and a host of other cousins, relatives, friends, and acquaintances in Louisiana, the Dallas/Cleburne areas of Texas, and the Memphis and Nashville/Hermitage areas of Tennessee. Relatives and friends of the family, employees of the former Holy Ghost School, Plaza Tower, and the former El Yoyo Head Start and Early Center as well as members of Holy Ghost Church and parish are invited a memorial service celebrating Marjorie’s final return to her beloved New Orleans that she loved so much. A funeral mass will be held in the chapel at DW Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave., New Orleans, LA on Saturday, April 3, 2021. Visitation with family will be from 9:00 am – 10:00 am followed by a 10:00 am mass and interment at Rest Haven Memorial Cemetery. The family requests that attendees wear purple, green or gold to symbolize Mardi Gras to commemorate Marjorie’s triumphant return to New Orleans as makes her final return Home. As mandated by the State of Louisiana due to the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance is limited. Everyone is required to adhere to all restrictions.
