Margaret Lovince

Margaret Christine Lovince transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, January 10, 2025. Within a whisper the chariot appeared with an angel from heaven to gently wrap Mother Margaret within his wings as they ascended the stairway to Heaven. Sunrise October 5, 1927 and Sunset January 10, 2025. “Mother Margaret”, “Ms. Margaret”, “Maw Maw”, “Maw Maw Margaret”, or “Momma” was the proud member of Vineyard Missionary Baptist Church, under the divine leadership of Rev. Thomas Lovince where she served as Mother of the Church. Mother Margaret served on the Deaconess Board, Mission Circle and was an active student in the Institute for Religious Studies. Ms. Margaret held degrees in Early Childhood Development and various education certifications from Roosevelt University and Erickson Institute for Early Childhood Development in Chicago, Illinois. She later held positions as a teacher at Delena Day School and Assistant Director of Horizon House Family Center located in Chicago’s Housing Project. Ms. Margaret retired as the Director of the Southern Baptist Hospital Employee’s Child Care Center here in New Orleans. Ms. Margaret was the oldest charter member of Gentilly Delight Chapter #31, Order of Eastern Star and adored being with Elks. Special thanks to Arthur Monday Jr. Senior Citizen Center of the West Bank, PACE, The Sanctuary at Passages Hospice, and to the many kind nursing assistants who Ms. Margaret had the pleasure of being around. She leaves to cherish fond memories with her two sons: Sonnie, Jr. of Waco, TX and Thomas (Derylyn) of New Orlans, LA and one daughter Felicia Lovince Harris. She is the grandmother of five (5): Justin Lovince (Mary), San Antonio, Tx, Nicole Lovince (Los Angeles, CA), Jordan Lovince (Natalie) Waco, TX, Byron Simon and Baili Simon (New Orleans, LA) and the proud great-grandmother of Corwin Lovince (Leaky, TX). One Sister, Blondelle McGowin Panama City, FL, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends. Family and Friends are invited to attend a Viewing Visitation on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Vineyard Missionary Baptist Church, NOLA 70117, from 12:00pm-3:00pm. On Saturday, January 18, 2025, there will be a second viewing from 8:am to 9am and then a Homegoing Celebration Service will follow at 9am. The casket will be closed prior to service. Interment at Resthaven Memorial Park, 10400 Old Gentilly Road, New Orleans, LA 70127. Repast to follow at Vineyard MBC.
