Lorraine Elizabeth P. Maurice

It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing if Lorraine E. Payne Maurice, a remarkable woman whose life was defined by love, kindness, and unwavering commitment to others. Lorraine, our beloved Mother, Sister, and Maw-Maw entered her heavenly rest at the glorious age of 87 peacefully at her home, on Saturday morning, February 1, 2025, having spent time with family and friends who adored her. Born with a heart full of compassion, Sweet Lorraine, as she was affectionately known, dedicated her life to bringing joy and comfort to those around her. Her gentle spirit and warm smile were a constant source of light, brightening the lives of everyone she encountered. Whether it was offering a listening ear, a helping hand, or a comforting embrace, Lorraine always made those around her feel seen, heard and loved. Lorraine was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family meant everything to her, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her devotion to her family was unparalleled. Lorraine was preceded in rest by her father Cpl. Lucien Payne (USAF), her mother, Margaret Means, her husband Walter, her eldest brother Lucien Jr., her eldest daughter Shelia, her eldest son, Walter (Terrilyn-Hill Maurice), her youngest daughter Lisa (Michael Duckett Maurice) and by her grandchildren, Joseph Platt Jr., and Sheldon Maurice. She is survived by her eldest sister Florence Larkin, her children Patricia Maurice-Walker, Gail Maurice-Lombard and her son Vernon Maurice (Cassandra), as well as by her grandchildren: Michael Walton Jr., Ayana Hill, Walter Maurice Jr., Teriyon Hammond, Lindsey Meredith Maurice-Walker, Robert Israel Walker III, Alden Lombard III, Holden Lombard, Tiriki Clay, Michael Duckette, and great-grandchildren: Morning Walton, Jason Dean, Myles Walker, Tajha Clay, Laiyah Clay, nieces and nephews and many many friends. While she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched. We find comfort in knowing that Lorraine’s legacy of love, compassion, and kindness will continue to inspire us all. Throughout her life, Lorraine lived a full life of love and was cherished by all. Her legacy of compassion will continue to inspire and guide all those who were touched by her presence. The Maurice family would like to extend their gratitude to everyone who has reached out to express their condolences for the heartfelt love showered upon sweet Lorraine.
