Kavin Girod Connor

Kavin Girod Connor, age 55, born April 21, 1962. Son of Mary L. Connor and the late Silas H. Connor, Kavin was a construction contractor by trade. He crossed over on December 24, 2017, rejoining his beloved father. He is survived by his mother Mary L. Connor; daughter Janea K. Bell (Gregory) of Fort Collins, CO; grandson Gregory Todd Bell Jr.; siblings Keith J. Connor (Leslie); Karen Ann Connor (Wayne); Karla Connor Bender, M.B.A., Ed.D (Herbert Jr.), of Sugar Land, TX; and Karl J. Connor, JD, LL.M (Monika); extended family, Shirley Lundy Connor (Silas), Karen Alana Reine (Kevin), and Mark J. Sidney (deceased); nieces Angelique Connor, Kelsey Connor, Ashley Sabir; nephews Keith Brown, Wayne Connor, Jalen Connor, Herbert Bender III, Quinn McKay; and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends of the family. Kavin attended Blessed Sacrament School before studying the construction trade. He also pursued a degree in Mass Communications at Yuba City College in California; serving as a radio and personality video production voice over counselor. A native New Orleanian, with an adventurous soul; hardworking and seeking new opportunities, Kavin ventured to Northern California. He spent thirty plus years in California where he operated several businesses under “KC Sunshine”, including a detailing service for farm equipment and crop planes. Always one to shadow and trail behind his beloved father, he was destined to inherit the Mastery Carpentry Skills that he eventually acquired and owned. Kavin used these expert skills to help many. Those whom he helped and taught, while an instructor at the Habitat for Humanity in Yuba City, California, are shining examples of how Kavin assisted them to go from homeless to housed. Kavin’s guiding carpentry hands also helped those students build houses, providing homes for others in need of shelter. Longing to reconnect with his family and explore his rekindled relationship with Eva Benoit, he returned home to New Orleans almost one year ago. Kavin enjoyed life to the fullest and as his nickname “KC Sunshine” indicates, he brought a ray of sunshine everywhere he went. With his gregarious and charismatic personality, his presence and big voice would fill the room the moment he walked in. He “never met a stranger”. His spirit was always jovial, cheerful, and kind. He truly enjoyed every moment in life. Another quality was that booming voice. Whether speaking or singing, when Kavin opened his mouth God’s gift to him was evident; rich, deep, melodious, baritone sounds resonated through the air. A bigger than life personality, one could ALWAYS tell when “Mr. KC Sunshine” was present. When he entered a room; he ENTERED a room! You may be gone from our sight, but you are never gone from our hearts. Let us say goodbye in the way that Kavin would have wanted us to…with a memory and an image of a time when he was laughing. He would laugh so hard with tears streaming from his eyes; that baritone voice laced with screeches from his throat, because he was so tickled by something within that moment he shared with you. You will be tremendously missed Kavin. Rest in peace my sweet brother. We will always remember your voice…hello puddin!…what up nephew!!…where ya at boy!…what up my sista?…what up brutha?...what up bruth-in-law?...what up cousin!…what up, what up, what up!!?...how are ya?…LOVE YA!
