Joseph A Rogers

Joseph A. Rogers of Hazel Crest, IL bravely transitioned after answering the call on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Christ Hospital. Joseph was born July 26, 1945 to Willie and Lydia Rogers, in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Willie Jr., Eugene and Bernard and one sister Vera. Joseph accepted Christ at an early age. He joined Greater St. Stephen Church in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana. Joseph was a man's man. He was a very kind and friendly person. Joseph graduated from John H. Martyn High School and then went on to Louisiana trade school to become an electrician. He was a member of I.B.E.W local 134. He loved being an electrician and was one of the best and owned his own business "Rogers Electric". Joseph and his wife June were next door neighbors and good friends for years before they started dating. Joseph had a son named Bruce. Eventually, Joseph and June started dating and got married on June 5, 1971. To this union two daughters Java and Jamara Rogers were born. They have three grandchildren, Brandon, Brad and Brittany. Joseph was a family man who was very proud of his children. He loved fishing, attending functions and playing games. He loved grilling food outside. He was truly a people's person who kept a smile on his face. Before he lost his ability to walk, he loved to dance. His favorite song to dance to was "Ain't no stopping us now." Joseph leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife June; son, Bruce (Kim) of Houston, TX; daughters, Java and Jamara of Hazel Crest; three grandchildren, Brandon, Brad and Brittany; Sisters in law, Janice, Carolyn, Maryann, Martha, Reese, Cynthia (Keith), Jerri (Jerry) and Faye; Brothers in law, Sidney, Joseph (Cynthia), Nathaniel, Chester (Kara); A very special nephew Sidney Williams Jr. and a host of relatives and friends.
