Ivory Delaney

Ivory Delaney, affectionately called Ike by those who knew him, departed this life peacefully at the age of 71 on September 10, 2022, in the presence of his loving family. Ike was born on June 9, 1951, in New Orleans, LA. He spent most of his life in New Orleans and attended Booker T. Washington High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He was the son of Carrie Delaney and Ivory Smith and was one of 12 children. Ike was married to Consuella Badie Delaney for 40 years and together they were the proud parents of three sons and eight grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Ike never met a stranger; if you had a conversation with him, you were likely to have a smile on your face. He instantly put everyone at ease and never hesitated to help anyone in need. He was the first call when anything went wrong – no matter if it was a flat tire or a clogged drain – you could always count on him to show up and fix anything and everything. Ike was a family man; he lovingly joked about his afternoons filled with school pickups over the past thirty years. He loved his late night breakfasts with his ‘baby girls’ Thai and Tayler and he was the king of eggs and rice, Cadillac-style. Aside from spending time with his family, some of his favorite things to do were fishing, watching movies and listening to music. Ike was preceded in death by his mother, Carrie Delaney, father Ivory Smith, brothers Frank Delaney (Marie), Alfred Delaney, Allen Arso, and Willie Arso, and son Mark Garrison, Jr. He leaves behind his wife, Consuella Delaney; sons Ivory Sean Delaney Sr. and Jason Delaney; grandchildren Sicquia Bryant, Ivory Sean Delaney Jr., Alicia Delaney, Cheyenne Delaney, Shayelon Delaney, Thai Delaney, Eaton Delaney, and Jenna Delaney; siblings Marie Delaney, Joseph Delaney, Viola Delaney, Carolyn Arso, Calvin Arso (Brenda), Juliette Perique (George), Julia Arso, and a host of nieces and nephews, including his ‘personal doctor’ Dr. Tayler A. Foe. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 7300 Crowder Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70127 on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 11:00 am.
