Earl "Cornbread" Ellis Jr.

It is with heartfelt sadness that we share the passing of Earl “Cornbread” Ellis, Jr. Earl “Cornbread” Ellis, Jr. was born on August 9, 1945, in Sicily Island, Louisiana, to the late Jessie Lee Ellis and Earl Ellis, Sr. On Sunday, August 30, 2026, God called Earl home. While we know that Earl is in God’s hands and suffering no longer, he will be sorely missed. Earl “Cornbread” Ellis, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Lee Ellis and Earl Ellis, Sr.; his brothers, Robert Lee Price, Jr. and William Ellis, Sr.; and his sisters, Odessa Watson and Lori Ann Ellis. Earl grew up in New Orleans and was educated in the public school system. His God given gifts were his hands and he went on to become a Pile Driver and Construction Welder with multiple major contractors across the U S. including Boh Brothers. When asked how he was doing he would say, Bodacious. And he coined the word hatredism. He would say I have no hatredism in my heart for no one. We are all God's children. He leaves behind to cherish his memories three daughters, Sabrina Wilson LeBeouf, Tara Jones, and Terry Greenlee (Thaddeus, Sr.); his sons, Marvin Nelson (Monic), Derrick Morris (Meshall), Quezato Morris (Troylynn), and Ernest Morris; six brothers, Roger and George Price, Lynell Ellis, Sr., Charles Ellis, Isaac Ellis, Sr., and Marcus Session; four sisters, Irma Lee Armon, Betty and Johnnie Session, and Mathie Thibodeaux; his devoted life companion, Thelma Morris; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A Tribute of Faith, Protection, and Eternal Rest Earl lived 81 years under the grace and protection of God, serving Him in his own way and according to the faith that was in his heart. Through every season of life, God remained his refuge, his strength, and his keeper. As we reflect on Earl’s life, we find comfort in God’s promises: Psalm 91:1–2 “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” Isaiah 41:10“Fear thou not; for I am with thee; be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” 2 Timothy 4:7–8 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness.” May Earl rest peacefully in the presence of the God he served, knowing that his earthly journey is complete and his eternal home awaits. His life, his faith, and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
