Dorothy Lee Johnson Wilson, beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend, was born on February 6, 1957, and peacefully departed this life on Monday, January 20, 2025. She was the cherished daughter of the late Ernest Johnson, Sr. and Golean Robinson Johnson. Dorothy was preceded in death by her siblings: Mattie, Marie, Doris, Jackie, and Mary; her brothers, Ernest Jr., George Sr., and Joe; as well as her beloved husband, Fred Wilson Jr. Dorothy embraced the Lord at an early age and became a faithful member of Thompson Temple Church of God in Christ. Her life was a testament to her unwavering faith and commitment to her family and community. Dorothy attended schools in the New Orleans Public School System and later dedicated herself to providing for her children, always putting the needs of others before her own. A loving and selfless soul, Dorothy was never too busy to lend a hand or offer support. She lived a life of service, often caring for others with boundless generosity and compassion.Dorothy’s greatest joy was her family, who she loved wholeheartedly. Her fondest memories were of time spent with her siblings, especially during the holidays. She took immense pride in creating a stable and loving environment for her children and found endless happiness in her grandchildren. Her joyful spirit, infectious laughter, and love of life made her a cherished presence in the lives of those fortunate to know her. When Dorothy joined Thompson Temple C.O.G.I.C., she found a home where she felt truly connected and spiritually nourished. She held a special admiration for Pastor and First Lady Thornton, frequently speaking of their beautiful personalities and relatable, inspiring teachings. Dorothy remained a dedicated member, faithfully participating in prayer calls up until her passing. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory three loving children: Joann & Christopher Johnson, Kizzie (Eddrick) Simms; eight grandchildren: Renika, Jenika & Shenika Johnson, Rochinae & De’monte Carmouche, Kirsten & Kristen Johnson, and Darius Johnson; thirteen great-grandchildren: Da’marius Johnson, Crandon & Brandon Barnett, Ja’marius Smith, Darren & Ja’mari Johnson, Lou’mani, Lewis Jr. & De’Zani Johnson, Ma’Lonie Johnson, De’Myrie Carmouche, Logan Jones, and Dreaux Peters; two brothers, Donald & Terry Johnson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Dorothy’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She was a woman who radiated love, kindness, and joy, and her legacy will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
