Carla Alexander Lee

Carla Alexander Lee, aged 73, passed away peacefully at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, LA on Monday, January 19, 2026, surrounded by family. Carla is survived by her children, Akeshia Singleton, DéJaneshia Lee, Lloyd Lee, III, and her brother Milton Alexander. She was a beloved grandmother to Aerielle Lee, Gabryelle Lee, Timzen Singleton, and Henry Fisher, Jr. She was also a doting Auntie to a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Carla was born in Bay St. Louis, MS and moved to New Orleans as a child, residing there for over forty years before resettling in Pineville after Hurricane Katrina. She graduated from L.E. Rabouin Vocational High School and was sponsored to be introduced as a Debutante in New Orleans society. Carla attended Dillard University and Delgado Community College, studying Nursing and Business/Computer Science. She was an LPN and worked for NOPSI (currently RTA) as one of the first female transit operators with her sister Vera, a lifeguard, a sports camp counselor (swimming, tennis, karate, and volleyball), a teacher, and a volunteer school coach (softball and volleyball). Carla served her community as a Commissioner in Charge for Louisiana elections, a nonprofit consultant for the Urban League of Louisiana and Umoja/Velocity Foundation, and as an Executive Officer for CJ Peete Community Center with her activist mother Augusta, along with countless other achievements. Carla was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 44 years, Lloyd L. Lee, Jr; her parents Harold Alexander, Sr. of Detroit and Augusta McKay Kerry of New Orleans; brother, Harold Alexander, Jr. and sisters, Vera Kerry Pierre, Linda Kerry Johnson, Yvette Kerry Reed, and Novella Kerry Finney, all of New Orleans. Carla regularly attended services at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church (Holy Ghost) in New Orleans, and later St. Frances Xavier Cathedral in Alexandria. She enjoyed art, crafting, handwriting, baking, reading and recreational sports. She and her husband were faithful Saints fans, repping the team throughout their lives. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in New Orleans. Visitation is at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. with Father Lambert A. Lein, SVD, Pastor officiating.
