Orleander A. James Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Orleander A. James announces his passing as he slept peacefully on Tuesday December 7, 2021, at the age of 61 years. Orleander, or "Lanny" was born on June 27th 1960 to Carlos and Gertrude James. Lanny grew up in the 7th ward of New Orleans. He received his education at Epiphany Elementary, and he graduated from John F Kennedy High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S Army where he served for 25 years. He retired U.S Army Reserves. For over 20 years he worked for Regional Transit Authority, previously (TMSEL). Lanny was the" life of any party". He had such a big heart and truly was "one of a kind'! He enjoyed: fishing, watching the saints games, and spending time with family and friends. Orleander was preceded in death by his sister Corliss J Lewis; and parents, The Late Carlos and Gertrude James He leaves to cherish his loving memory: His two daughters, Ashley M. James and Olivia A Johnson; two granddaughters, Micah H. Syes, and Lynnoxx R. Earl; a sister, Janet M. Higgins; nephews, Trent M. Lancelin, Trent M. Lancelin II, Carlos J. Higgins Sr. Carlos J. Higgins Jr., Dominick Higgins; nieces, Brett M. Higgins, Dominique M. Thorne, Ava C. Thacker; his brother-in-law, Charles E. Lewis; his devoted companion, Janice Taylor; and a host of cousins, extended family and friends. Realtives and friends of the family, employees of RTA & Alumnae of John F Kennedy Sr High School C/0 78-79 are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1923 St. Phillip Street on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 10:00 am.
