Marcella Collins

March 1, 2022

Marcella was born on October 27, 1930 and departed this world on March 1, 2022. Marcella was the daughter of the late Stanley and Pauline Trudeau Cuillier, and the sister of the late Stanley, Jr. and Anthony Cuillier. She was the sister-in-law of Doris Miller Cuillier and Margarite Peters Cuilliers. Marcella met her husband, the late Judge Lionel R. Collins (son of the late Jesse and Ruth Collins) while they attended Xavier University. In 1952, Marcella and Lionel were married and had 3 children; Edith C. Sanders (Eteldrige), Lionel Jr. (Stephanie), and Paula C. Webster (Kelvin). She will also leave many grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and grandpets (Rex). Marcella was a math teacher at Booker T. Washington H.S. and a guidance counselor at Francis T. Nichoills H.S., both of New Orleans. She retired from the Orleans Parish School System after 32.5 years of service. She attended Corpus Christi Elementary School, Xavier Prep H.S., and Xavier University in New Orleans. She also received her Masters Degree from Xavier University and also attended classes at various universities toward her Masters Plus 30 Degree. All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Visitation of Our Lady Catholic Church, 3500 Ames Blvd. on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Interment at Westlawn Cemetery at 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be given to your favorite charity. Arrangements by D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Avenue.
