Lorraine Rita Desbordes, a lifelong resident of New Orleans, La., entered into eternal rest on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021 at the age of 102. She was born on Oct. 22, 1918 to the union of George Peter Desbordes and Alice Hebrard Desbordes. She was the second of ten children. She attended Valena C. Jones School. As the oldest girl, she assisted in the upbringing of her younger siblings. She was then employed as a seamstress at Haspel Sewing Factory and when needed she became a care giver for her aging parents until their death. She later returned to work in a domestic capacity. Prior to Hurricane Katrina she was a devout Catholic Parishioner of Epiphany Catholic Church and a member of the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, The Ladies Auxiliary of The Knights of Peter Claver and the Monday rosary group. She was soft spoken and a loving person who took every opportunity to always thank you for anything that you did for her. She was never judgmental or never complained about anything. At times she could be quite witty. When asked what was her secret for her longevity, she would say “I’m not telling.”She had a strong faith in God and would always say it is God’s will about her health challenges. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Calvert Desbordes, Anita Clax, Geraldine Echols, Dr. Lionel A Desbordes, Clarence Desbordes, Alice Barnes, Agnes McKay, and Bernardine Desbordes. She is survived by her brother Dr. Fabian F. Desbordes, DDS. (Phyllis Desbordes) of Pikesville, Maryland. She leaves to cherish her memories a son, Leonard P. Blazio (Barbara Route-Blazio) of Hyattsville, Md., Claudette B. Stills and Melanie B. Williams. She is also survived by grandchildren Monique Ceasar and Jezell Mitchell of Upper Marlboro, MD., Dwayne J. Martin of Houston, TX., Angelo Keller and Danielle Keller, 6 great-grands and 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends Relatives and friends of the family also priest and parishioners of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church and Corpus Christi-Epiphany Catholic Church are invited to attend a funeral mass of Christian Burial at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church 7300 Crowder Blvd New Orleans, LA. On Monday January 25, 2021 at 11:00 am. Visitation will begin at 9:00am until 10:45am. As mandated by the State of Louisiana due to the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance is limited. Everyone is required to adhere to all restrictions. You must wear a face mask at all times and practice social distancing. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery Arrangement by D.W.
