Leo Bridges was born on July 12, 1935 to the union of Amos and Lilly Bridges in Silver Creek, MS. He was the seventh among nine children, namely, M.J., I.V., Willie Dean Davis, Ella Mae Smith, Lillie Mae Holliday, Olla Mae Brown, Willie Ray Bridges, and Cleo Bridges. Leo began working for Winn Dixie in the early sixties as a forklift operator and then became a truck driver for approximately two decades. He became an independent truck driver in 1985 and retired from the industry in 2016. He joined St. John Divine Missionary Baptist Church in 1964. In 1971 he was sworn in as a Deacon, served as the Chairman of the Deacon Board, a member of the Trustee Board, and performed the duties of a dedicated Sexton (maintenance of building). He was a devoted man of God who served until he was no longer able. Leo Bridges departed the body to be present with the Lord on Friday, May 7, 2021. He leaves to celebrate his life and his legacy, Bobbie Jean Bridges, his cherished wife of 63 years; loyal children, Jasper Bridges, Vincent Bridges (Bonnie Bridges) (Ashburn, VA), Quintin Bridges and Tnika Bridges (Houston, TX); loving grandchildren, Brittany Bridges, Jasper Bridges Jr., Toi Bridges (Dallas, TX), Courtney Bridges (Easton, MD), Ashley Bridges (Laurel, MD), Kevin Glover (Ashburn, VA), and Chance Augustin (Houston, TX); and a host of other relatives and friends. Family, friends, and Parishioners of St. John Divine Missionary Baptist Church are invited to attend the funeral at St. John Divine Missionary Baptist Church at 1763 N. Derbigny St. New Orleans, LA 70116 on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 10am (viewing) and 11am (celebration of life). Interment: Mt.
