Kathleen Slaughter Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Kathleen “Kat” Slaughter was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world suddenly on May 8, 2022, at the age of 70. She was born to Willie and Lois Slaughter on August 26, 1951. She met a man from Los Angeles in New Orleans by the name of Tyrone Kelly, Sr. During their relationship she had one son, Tyrone Kelly, Jr. Kat loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family. Neighborhood children, who also became family, would gather around the table for after-school snacks or dinner and loved listening to her music selection that she would play; songs from L’il Wayne, Big Freedia, Tupac, Mary J. Blige, to hits from Motown. Kat spent most weekends enjoying time with her son’s family and other family members. She also loved helping people. She had a heart of gold and the legacy that she is leaving behind will impact many generations to come. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Service at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Avenue on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm. Everyone in attendance is required to wear a mask. Interment: private.
