Julia Hackett Wrench

February 28, 2022

On Monday, February 28 , 2022, Julia “Nell” Hackett Wrench departed her life on earth to be with our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ. Julia was born on March 5, 1934 in Magnolia Mississippi to the late Demas Patterson and Leona Hackett. As a child she attended a public school in Mississippi and later continued her studies in the New Orleans public schools where she was a graduate of Joseph S. Clark High. Julia was full of life. She lit up a room--not only because she was the sharpest dresser there, or because of her signature perfume. Her beauty was noticed wherever she went, along with her energy and spirit. She was vivacious! Heads turned when Julia walked in. Calling her a FOX was an understatement. She always dressed to the nines- never a curl out of place, with a heart of gold and spirit as feisty and tough as they come. She was the family's rock and fierce matriarch. She guided her family with high standards and loved them All unconditionally. Sis. Wrench accepted Christ and was baptized at First Pilgrim Baptist Church, where she served as an Usher, in the Tride Stone Society and a Deaconess until her health declined. She worked in the service industry for many years until she retired from Monteleon Hotel. She later worked at the Omini Hotel until resigning, where she helped develop strong hard working young mothers; 55 years ago. Extended family and friends admired how she proudly and humbly held her head up high as she raised, managed and took care of her children; three daughters and ten sons and an affectionate pet dog Paco, along with her husband. The late Catherine Glaspy (late Harold Sr.), Beverly Woods (Patrick), the late Frank Woods Jr.(Carolyn), Eddie Woods (Teri), Kenneth Woods, the late Edward and Darrell Woods, Bruce Woods( Maxine), Derrick Woods (Penny), Cassandra Delpit (the late Lionel Delpit) (Raymond), Cedric Woods, Donald Woods(Demetrice), and Shawn Woods(Kimberly). Grandma Julia had 52 grandchildren, 84 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren along with a host of nieces and nephews who she loved and adored. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Homegoing Celebration at First Pilgrim Baptist Church Saturday March 5, 2022 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Norman Mayer Ave. New Orleans, La 70122. Arrangement by D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave. Please visit www.rhodesfuneral.com to sign the online guestbook.
