Irma Breaux

Irma Beecham Breaux gained her heavenly wings on August 15, 2022, at the age of 93. Irma, a native of New Orleans, LA, was born on Homestead plantation in Plaquemine, Louisiana on September 9th, 1928 to the late Absolum and Christine Williams Beecham. Irma was a graduate of Plaquemine High School. At the young age of 14, Irma was baptized by the late Rev Coleman Parker and became a faithful member of the Pilgrims’ Rest Baptist Church in Plaquemine, LA, where she dedicated her life to Christ and was a member of the choir. Irma loved being a homemaker and tending to others. Irma enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, making fresh preserves, homemade pineapple ice cream (her fav), traveling and spending time with her beloved family. Most of all, Irma enjoyed going to Church. In 1960, she later joined St. John Baptist church in New Orleans, LA under the leadership of the late Rev. Joseph Washington and the late Rev. G.R. Washington Sr. She remained a faithful member under the leadership of her present pastor, Rev Donald P. Boutte’ where she served on the pastor support board. Irma loved her St. John family. Irma was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Breaux, daughter, Janice B, Stevens, her sister, Gertie Mae Little, her brother, James Beecham and great granddaughter Jewel Esprite. May she join them all in heaven. Irma is survived by her daughter, Roslyn B, Poret, her stepson, Roger P. Breaux (Berdell), son in law, Robert Stevens, five grandchildren, Deondria L. Breaux (Patricia), Mark A. Poret (Christan), Andrew M. Esprite (Teanna), Jason B. Ellis (Lauren) and Ashley B. Johnson (Miller IV), sixteen great grandchildren, Janicea (Edward III), Janiyah, Jordan, Meah, Sean, Jaida, Andrew Jr, Sir, Israel, Carter, Cameren, Cassidy, Jadyn, Emma, Miller V, Amir, one great-great grandson, Jahleel, and her sisters, Thelma Carter, Christine Mellieon and Dorothy B. Williams and her devoted friend, Ms. Frances Croom. Celebration of Life is Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 10:00 a.m, at St John Baptist Church at 8540 Panola St, New Orleans, LA 70118. Donald P. Boutte’ will be officiating. Viewing will be at 9:00am. Interment will follow at Providence Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 8200 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana 70003.
