Elaine Gant

Elaine Geraldine Gant entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on January 29, 2022. She was 91 years old. Born on September 30, 1930 to Herbert Gant Sr and Wilhelmina Davis Gant. Elaine was the second of four children. She lived, attended school, worked and raised her only daughter in New Orleans. As a child she was raised and baptized in Mount Hermon Baptist Church. As a young adult she joined Gloryland Mount Gillian Baptist Church. Elaine held many jobs in her lifetime. She worked at Touro Infirmary in the Surgical Department, she was a line worker at Wise Cafeteria, and her longest job was at Adler’s Jewelry Store in the Delivery Department. This was her most loved job and she remained there until her retirement. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Mary Louise Gant and Yvonne Gant Anderson and brother Herbert Gant Jr. Left to mourn her passing are her daughter Constance Rider Brooms, grandson Kelly Joseph Brooms and granddaughter Kimberly Dawn Brooms. Ms. Gant also leaves behind loving nieces Tracey Anderson-Zenon, Danica Gant Lampton (Larry Lampton Sr); nephews Herbert Gant III (Tanya Gant), Guy Christopher Gant (Nicole Gant); brother-in-law Frank Anderson Jr; sister-in-law Gertrude Gant; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends. Ms. Gant was a member of Mercy Endeavors Senior Center where she spent many days enjoying her final years. We want to thank them. We would also like to thank Amazing Care Services for their care when Ms. Gant needed assistance. Ms. Elaine Gant will be greatly missed by us all ! Family and friends are invited to attend the Homegoing Service on Monday February 7, 2022 at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave, New Orleans, LA 70125 at 10:00am. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Attendance is limited and everyone is required to adhere to all restrictions. You must wear a face mask at all times and practice social distancing. Interment: Mount Olivet Mausoleum.
