Eddie Easterling

Eddie was born in Midnight, Mississippi to Luther & Berdena Easterling. His parents and 3 of his siblings preceded him in death. His surviving siblings are Erma Lockhart, James Easterling, and Bobby Easterling (Barbara). His family members called him SKIN. His father gave him that nickname. He spent most of his life in Collins, Mississippi and loved going “home” to visit his family. He always told his wife that he was just “a country boy”. After graduating from high school, he played basketball for Alcorn A&M College. He was unable to complete his college courses due to an injury he sustained while running track. He was given an opportunity to work in another country. He enjoyed his assignment but always wanted to come back to the states. Once he came back home, he decided not to return to that job. Basketball was his favorite sport and he loved to cook, make pecan candy and bake brownies. He also liked music by Aaron Neville. In 1983, he symbolized his dedication to Jehovah after studying the Bible with his next door neighbor. In June of 1984, he married Anna Carter McCoy. He called her sweetheart. He had the privilege of pioneering while in the Riverside and Garden District Congregations. He was able to attend 3 Pioneer Schools and was an elder for many years. Eddie spent the last 4 months of his life in the hospital. In November of 2021, he suffered a heart attack and then a stroke. He was unable to fully recover. He was always happy to see those who were able to visit him while he was hospitalized. He passed away peacefully on Monday, April 4th at Bridgepoint Hospital in Marrero. He leaves his wife Anna, 4 sons; Karama McCoy, Marcelles Taylor, Robert McCoy Jr. (Koiya), and Edward Easterling (Lisa), 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, a host of family and Christian friends.
