Betty Wilson Batiste Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Betty Wilson Batiste, daughter of the late Walter Wilson and Ella Wilson Ned, was born July 13, 1943 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She entered into eternal rest Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the age of 78. She leaves to cherish her memory, and her pride and joy, her sons, Joseph L. Batiste, III (Kelly), Kevin J. Batiste, Dr. Corey G. Batiste. Her uncle, George Ruth of Houston, Texas, her brother-in-law Johnnie McKinnies, Sr., one nephew, Johnnie McKinnies, Jr., and two nieces Deborah Wesley and Lisa Grimes. She is also survived by a cousin, Betty Williams, three grandchildren, Saskia E. Lampe, Clarke J. Batiste and Joseph L. Batiste, IV, dear friends, Sonia Turner and Kelley Clark, and a host of relatives and friends. Betty was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She dedicated 45 years to teaching Biology in New Orleans Public Schools, Jefferson Parish Schools and Delgado Community College. Relatives and friends of the family, members of All Saints Catholic Church, members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., alumni of L.B. Landry High School, and former co-workers and neighbors are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church 1441 Teche Street, Algiers, LA. Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. Interment: Westlawn Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, LA 70056. Everyone in attendance is required to wear a mask.
