Bernadette Mary Robinson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Bernadette (Bunny) Mary Robinson departed this life on April 21, 2021 at the age of 74. Bunny was born to Margery Lombard and Luther “Jack” Robinson on April 4, 1947. Bernadette was a faithful member of All Saints Church and school. She graduated from ASCS in 1961. Attended and graduated from Xavier University Preparatory in 1965. She attended Xavier University and Spencer Business College. Bunny went on to work at the U.S. Department of the Interior as supervisor for the Records Department for over 30 years until her retirement. She became a Godmother to many and constantly referenced the Sunday Mass prayer, “Bless parents that they may form their children in faith. Bless and protect our youth that they may be peacemakers of our time.” She was dedicated to her church, church organizations, and social clubs. Bernadette joined the K.P.C. St. Rita Court #36 in 1985. She was Grand Lady 1989-92 & 1995-96. She also served as Financial Secretary and Vice Grand Lady. Bernadette was initiated into L.M. Lunnon Chapter #4 Ladies of Grace in 2001. Bernadette served for over 30 years as Mistress of Ceremonies and Announcer for the Westside Old Timers Baseball Club. Bernadette became a member of The Girl Friends, Inc. in 1995, joining member Aline Collins, her beloved Aunt. Over the past 26 years she served as Sergeant-at-arms, Recording Secretary, Financial Secretary and for the past 8 years as the club’s Historian. In March 2021, “The Original Girl Friends, Inc.” bestowed the status of “Emeritus Member” on our faithful treasure Bernadette. Bunny joined the All Saints Rosary Group after her retirement and was a faithful member until her health declined. She was one of the original members of All Saints Bereavement Ministry; consoling countless parishioners and their families. She was for a brief period the treasurer of the United Churches of Algiers, Bernadette was preceded in death by her mother Margery Lombard Robinson, her father Luther “Jack” Robinson, maternal grandparents: Virgina Colla and Manuel Placide Lombard. Paternal grandparents: Virginia & Thomas Robinson. Aunts: Aline Lombard Collins (Nathaniel), Sylvia Hogan (Melvin), Alida Weber, Thelma Robb, Delores R. Lombard, Audrey Singleton, and Mercedes Simmons. Uncles: Manuel Lombard, Vincent Lombard Sr., James Lombard, Sr. (Marion), James Stone, Sr., Andrew T. Robinson, Thomas Robinson, and Harold Robinson. She leaves to cherish her memories, her siblings JoAnne Tardy (Melvin, Sr.), James W. King (Gennice), nieces: Angela King M.D. and Pamela Branson (Charles), nephews: Melvin Tardy, Jr.(Annie) and Gregory Tardy (Janel), Aunts: Marie S. Lombard, June L. Allen and Shirley L. Stone. Godchildren: Tom Bowser, Gaynell Williams, Leslie Gross Smith, Jenna Robinson and Devin Dilworth and a host of relatives and friends, especially life long time friends Patricia (Pat) Windfield Colbert, Gaynell Baudy and Tom Bowser. Bunny’s favorite pastimes were attending balls, Mardi Gras parades and watching and reading sports and current events. Bunny developed multiple lasting friendships over the years. True to being a “social butterfly” she attended every social and sports activity she could. Bunny most definitely was a “free spirit” who lived her life as she saw fit. Her spirit will live on through all of us whose lives she touched. Ms. Robinson’s family is hosting a Memorial Mass at All Saints Catholic Church, 1441 Teche Street, New Orleans, LA 70114 on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 10:00 am. Rosary at 9:00 am.
