Troy Phillip Brown

Troy Phillip “Luther” Brown, age 48, passed away peacefully at his home on June 15, 2022 after a long health battle. Troy was born on August 28, 1973 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the eldest of five sons born to Warrene Brown Bickham. Son to his devoted father, Jewel Frank Bickham Sr. Loving Husband of, Carletta Brister Brown. He was a 1991 graduate of Joseph S. Clark Senior High School. Current employee of the Blue Line Sandwich Company and a resident of Harvey, Louisiana. Troy is survived by his parents, his wife, brother Jewel Frank Jr. (Whitney), beloved nephew Jewel Frank (Tre) III, niece Jewelle Ja’nae, goddaughter Delaney Broussard. Nine uncles, Edward, Joseph (Jacquellyn), Hosea (Margaret) Brown, Brian Broadus, Aron (Kim), Richard (Linda), Carlos (Regina), McCoy and Ronald Bickham, aunts Jennifer Dixon, Ursula Butler and Gloria Webb (James). Mother-in-law Ada L. Brister, sisters-in-laws Theresa A. Jackson and Thelma B. Bell. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Troy was preceded in death by three brothers, who died in infancy, grandmothers Iradell Brown and Mardessa Bickham. Grandfathers Joseph Petite and Coy Bickham, aunt Hilda Brown, uncles Elston, Warren and Roy Brown. Father-in-law Charles H. Brister and brother-in-law Walter L. Jackson. The family of Troy Brown would like to give a special thank you to his godmother the Honorable Alexis M. Herman, prayer team members Bro. JW & Rita Harthornes, Rogers Cutrer and Dionne Alfred. Best friends Derrick Summrell & family and Darnell Lee & family, and nephew Troy G. Jackson. The family would also like to acknowledge Dr J. Phillip Boudreaux and the staff at East Jefferson Medical Center and the New Orleans Nephrology Associates, The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Second District Night Patrol Platoon B, Jefferson Parish Ambulance Service (West Bank), Jefferson Parish Fire Department, the men and women of the Jefferson Parish 911 Dispatch Center, the Staff at Zeas Rotisserie (Metairie), and all the guys at Creative Hands Barber Shop. Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 1020 Virgil Street Gretna, Louisiana, on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 10:00 am. Visitation starts at 9am.
