Te’Wanta Michelle “Rachel” Cox entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving daughter and mother. She was born June 29, 1985, in New Orleans, and a resident of Kenner. She was the mother of her sweet “princess”, Lauren Rush. “Rachel” as she was so affectionately known graduated from East Jefferson High School class of 2004. She was employed by the local Raising Canes in Kenner for several years until her health declined. She was baptized at Kenner Calvary Baptist Church by the late Rev. O. C. Robinson where she now served under the present pastor, Rev. Dr. James Turner. Te’Wanta took time out of the day to march with her daughter during Mardi Gras parade season. She could also be found using her time during doctors’ appointments to feed the homeless and mentor friends and cancer patients. She was recognized in the month of October by the women who helped women’s organization award by the women of wisdom from Kenner Calvary Baptist Church in 2021. She leaves to cherish her memories forever, her loving and devoted daughter, Lauren Rush; her mother, Patrice (Eugene) Davis Jones; two sisters, Latoya (Bonnie) Cox and Ro’Keitha (Darius) Cox; one brother, Kash Jones. Her grandparents, Sylvester and Pearl Davis, Sr., and Grandfather, Herman Cox; three uncles, Keith (Katrina) Brown, Sr., Cornelius (Regina) Dupard, IV, and Durrell (Tanisha) Dupard, Sr., two aunts, Renee (Darius) Bryant and April (Ashley) Darensbourgh, two nieces, Kayla Cortorreal and Amiha Cox; two nephews, Tyler Bovia and Darrius Cox; three godchildren, Kayla Cortorreal Jace Darensbourg and Tyliah Armstead and her godfather, Brian Jones. Three God-brothers, Timothy Jones, IV, Jamie R. Jones, and Dexter R. Jones; three God-sisters Stephanie Jones Kimberly Jones, and Yosha Brown. She also had two “BFFs”, Dionne Bolding and Donna Cambeilh, and her “BESTIE”, Earl Smith, and a host of aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Elnora Brown, and her grandfather Cornelius Dupard, III. Two great aunts, Eola Jones/Godmother and Cleola Brown, and one uncle Freddie Estelle, Sr. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Kenner Calvary Baptist Church, 929 Sibley Street, Metairie, LA 70003 Rev. Dr. James Earl Turner, Pastor. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Providence Memorial Park & Mausoleum, 8200 Airline Highway, Metairie, LA 70003.
