Sarah Ann Faulkner

I give my life, fully committed to you. – Walter Hawkins Sarah Ann Faulkner dash of life began on Thursday, October 24, 1963, in New Orleans, Louisiana, born to William and the late Anice Kelly Faulkner. She was the living baby of six, Willie Mae, Jerry, Danice, Terry, and Angel. Psalm 116:15 says ”Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” On Sunday October 6, 2024, after returning home from the communion worship experience, Sarah had a massive heart attack, and the Lord Jesus welcomed her into the place which He prepared for her for all eternity. Sarah was given the name Sabo by her late Uncle Alfred Lewis, and it became her affectionate family name by relatives and close friends. Sarah attended Warren Easton High School, Class of 1980. In 1983, Sarah attended the ABC Truck Driving School in Pensacola, Florida, where she successfully earned certification and CDL license to drive eighteen wheeler trucks. Over the road driving didn’t appeal to Sarah. She sought employment elsewhere and was one of the first females to be hired on at BFI as a truck driver. Sarah spent ten years there. After the death of her brother, Terry, Sarah left BFI in 2004 and found employment at Winn Dixie as a cook in their Deli Department. Sarah spent a lot of time in her mother’s kitchen, chopping seasoning, peeling vegetables, but never having to cook. We can only assume cooking was in her genes. Sarah began her culinary career at Aramark in 2012, as a kitchen helper. She excelled in the kitchen and was promoted to Kitchen Manager and after several contracts - she was promoted to Supervisor, School Café. At the time of her death, Sarah held that position with her current employer, Chartwells, LLC, serving Kipp Believe. Sarah was an advocate for those who worked in the food industry and became a Union Representative for Workers United, SCIU, Local - 21A. Sarah held the position of Vice President of Southwest Regional Joint Board, Workers United, SCIU, Local 21A. This involvement led to her interest in politics and soon after became an Election Worker and worked the polls on Election Day. She was so excited for the upcoming Presidential race and was an advocate for voter registration. Sarah was baptized at an early age at Union Bethel AME Church by the late Rev. Luttrell G. Long, and was active in Sunday School, the Jr. Usher Board, the Bethelite Choir, and the YPD. She later joined Second Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, with her mother, and attended other churches before returning to the church of her youth. Upon returning, she joined the Sanctuary Choir and became an active and involved member of the church. Sarah served as President of the Sanctuary Choir, Co-Chair of the Kitchen and Feeding Ministry, member of the Women’s Missionary Society, Sunday School, and was voted onto the Trustee Board by the membership. During her stays in Cincinnati, Sarah continued her Chrisitan journey and joined Philippian Missionary Baptist Church under watch care, under the pastorate of the late Rev. Jesse O’Conner, Sr. There she assisted in the kitchen and sang with the New Birth Inspirational Choir. Sarah enjoyed cooking and worked diligently in the church’s kitchen for all events. Anyone who knows – knows Sarah was well known for her potato salad. There were fights over her potato salad both in New Orleans and Cincinnati. She was free hearted and often invited strangers and college students, to her Family Sunday Dinners. Sarah never married – but she was blessed with two sons, Milton Nathan and William Damon Faulkner; and became Godmother to her niece Shonda Lewis. Although her death seemed untimely, unexpected, unreal – we have the Blessed Assurance that it was in God’s Plan. Sarah Ann Faulkner, although absent from the body – we know her to be with our Lord. Sarah was preceded in death by her mother, Anice Kelly Faulkner, her sister, Angel and brother Terry Faulkner; grandparents Fountain and Sarah Faulkner; Garfield and Celia Kelly; sister-in-law Gail Belton; niece, Shonda Belton, nephew Jerry Belton Jr., and brother-in-law Robert Brown. Sarah leaves Precious Memories with her two sons, Milton and William; five grandsons, Khalil, Milton Jr., Zayden, Alijah, Khari Faulkner; and one granddaughter, Londynn Faulkner; her father William Faulkner, siblings, Willie Mae Brown, Jerry Belton, and Danice Faulkner-Edwards; Goddaughter, Shonda P. Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, church family, neighbors, and friends.
