Rosetta Elaine Jones

Rosetta Elaine Jones was born on February 8, 1953, to Delores Jones and Jonas Gauthier in New Roads, Louisiana. She peacefully departed this life on August 23, 2025. Rosetta accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Peter A.M.E Church in New Roads. In 1964, her mother relocated to New Orleans, La. Over the years, she faithfully worshiped with several congregations, including New Hope Baptist Church, St. Peter A.M.E. Church of New Orleans, St. James A.M.E. Church, Fifth African Baptist Church, and Abundant Life Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she remained a member until her passing. She began her education at Rosenwald Elementary in New Roads before attending Valena C. Jones Elementary, Edward H. Phillips Jr. High and Booker T. Washington Senior High School in New Orleans. During high school, Rosetta began her career at Southern Baptist Hospital, where she worked in the dietary Department and remained there after graduation. She later advanced to the role of Dietary Manager and transferred to the Lindsey Boggs Facility. Following Hurricane Katrina and the closure of the Lindsey Boggs Facility, she transitioned to Total Community Action, where she worked until her retirement. Rosetta's joy was her family. She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved daughter, Sherilyn Monique Hayes; three grandchildren, Chad Hayes, Brea Hayes, and Breion Duncan; and great- grandchildren, Justice, Chadsity, Janiya, Chaz, and Chosyn Hayes, and Bryson Duncan. She is also survived by her sisters, Gwendolyn Jones, Anita Jones, Marion King, Myra Sanchez, and Veronica Victorian; her aunts, Delphine Bridgewater and Marjorie Cobb; and her uncle , Lloyd Bridgewater. Her memories remain through her nephews, Michael Toussaint Jr., Brian Jones, and Corey Sanchez; neices, Tamara Jones, Chloe King, L'Oreal King, and Jamiah Jones; great nieces , Chameri Trainer, ah'mir Trainer, Ryan Toussaint, Lotus Blossom King, and Skylar Sanchez; and great nephews, Brian Kennedy Jones, Ocean-Blue Wade, Shia Sanchez, Juelz Morgan, and Jivenchy Morgan. She is also remebered by her brothers-in-law, Michael Toussaint Sr., Freddie Sanchez, Anthony Bradley, and Leslie Winbush; her godson, Desmond Kenneth Mitchell Sr., and a host of other devoted relavtives and friends. Rosetta was preceded in death by her grand parents, August and Louise Jones; her parents Delores Jones and Jonas Gauthier; her brother , Leroy Jones; and her grandson, Justin Hayes. Rosetta Elaines Jones will be remebered by her faith, dedication to family , and unwavering strength.
