Reggie Dorsey

Reggie was born on June 13, 1978, to parents Betty Dorsey and Reginald Causey. On January 28, 2024, he entered into eternal rest. Reggie, affectionately known to his family as Scooter Baby, was a dedicated, faithful, caring; son, brother, father, uncle, and friend. His beautiful smile and kind-hearted nature will be missed by all who knew him. Reggie was a life-long resident of New Orleans. He had no shortage of friends and always tried to help anyone he met. He was gifted and talented in working with his hands as a carpenter, construction worker, mechanic and general home renovator. His sister remembers him as a young child dismantling his toys and making new ones. He once took apart his toy boat and re-worked the propeller to make a fan to keep them cool. Most recently, he was a valued team member at Sid Lejeune Properties, LLC of Baton Rouge. There, he worked as Maintenance Supervisor and Lead HVAC Technician. When he was off from work, he would often offer to help friends and family with home and car repairs. Reggie was a founding partner of Dorsey & Son’s Construction Division, LLC. Dorsey and Son’s expresses appreciation for his hard work and dedication to making the business a success. The company will continue to thrive as a part of his legacy. Reggie was preceded in death by his brother Reginald Dorsey, Grand-parents Ethel Mae Dorsey and Mack Cushinberry, Step-Father William Walker, Uncle Larry Dorsey, Cousins Jeremy Dorsey, Jerry Dorsey and Larry Boyde. He leaves to cherish his memory: his Mother Betty Dorsey, Father Reginald (Lynn) Causey, Siblings, Lawrence (Tamica) Dorsey, Betty Sparks, Shanell Sparks, Dione (Arthur) Payne, Christian Causey, Children Reginald Dorsey, Reggie (Diana) Dorsey, Roderick Dorsey, Reggine (Jermaine) Willis, Robin Dorsey and their Mother Paula Dorsey, Grandkids, Reighlee, Rajai, Rodrick Jr., Riyae, Reginald Jr., and Rein. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life Service is planned for Saturday, February 10, 2024, at D. W. Rhodes Funeral Home located at 3933 Washington Avenue New Orleans, LA 70125. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am with service following at 10:00 am. Bishop Earl LeViege, Sr. Pastor of Gethsemane COGIC will officiate. Funeral services are under the direction of D. W. Rhodes Funeral Home 3933Washington Ave. N.O. La 70125. Interment is entrusted to Providence Park Cemetery, 8200 Airline Dr. Metairie, LA 70003. A Repast following burial services will take place at Rosenwald Gymnasium 1120 S. Broad. St. 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
