Paulette Rose Elzy

Paulette Rose Elzy was born on May 14, 1961 to the late Dolline Elzy Van Buren. Paulette grew up in New Orleans. She is a graduate of Booker T. Washington (‘79). She worked in the hotel industry for over 40 years (oh yes, Lord...she loved going to work - a true workaholic). She was confessed to Christ, and was baptized at St. Peter Claver Church. She later became a devoted parishioner of Central City Christian Fellowship in New Orleans. She is preceded in death by three (3) siblings - Anna Evelyn Elzy Henderson, Paul and Sherry Elzy, and two (2) nephews, Rickey Elzy and Lynwood Ashley. On Tuesday, July 26, 2022, Paulette went home to be with the Lord, adding to God’s great family of angels. She leaves to mourn and cherish her precious memories, her sisters - Dorothy Ghebre, Lula Elzy, and Lynette Elzy; nephews - Bobby Elzy, Levar Elzy, Bryan Elzy, Eric Ghebre, niece - Joy Henderson Marshall, and a host of many other great-nieces, -nephews, cousins, and friends. God blessed Paulette to live on the Earth 61 years and touched the lives of many, who knew her well with kindness, humor, always generously giving to others - if she had it, and you needed it - it was yours. She loved traveling, going to the movies with her favorite nephew, Bobby, rooting for the Saints and loved Mardi Gras. And oh yes...we can’t forget how she enjoyed her Red and White birthday parties, where all neighbors were invited. If you knew Paulette, you knew RED was her favorite color! How wonderful it was for her to be at home in her last days, hearing the sounds in her neighborhood, talking a little but speaking the truth. We will remember Paulette as the sister who was always on the go, walking and talking fast, telling us…“people, you just don’t know, but I have somewhere to go.” So now our dear sister you can rest in the loving arms of God knowing that… You fought a good fight, You finished your course, You kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7 Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at D. W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave, New Orleans, LA 70125, on August 5, 2022, at 12:00 pm.
