Patricia Ann Harris

Patricia Ann Harris of Vacherie, LA, on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 8:20pm departed this life at the age of 79. Patricia Ann Harris was born on August 6, 1946 to the late Beatrice Johnson and Lester Chapman. She was baptized in the Mississippi River by the late Pastor Arthur Jones. Patricia graduated from Magnolia High School in 1964. She was actively a member of First Baptist Church and the choir until her health failed. But she continued serving God until He called her home. Patricia was a graduate of Southern University A & M College, where she received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Education and Master’s degree in School Counseling. She devotedly taught school for many years in St. James Parish, Lafourche Parish, and in Austin, TX. She also provided counseling services working part-time at Magnolia Family Services until her health declined. She always had a love for kids. She loved tutoring, sewing, preparing kids for college, and helping them in any way she could. Patricia was the Mother of Emmanuel Smith Jr. of Vacherie, La., Sister of Carolyn Henry of Chicago, IL. Rodney (Alinda) Johnson of Vacherie, La., and Celester Johnson of Houston, TX, She was also the mother and grandmother in love for Francis and Braylen Jones. Survived by 6 godchildren: Stacy Haywood, Cornelius Jones, Jr., Tawanna Jones, Jessica Oubre, Maya Minor, and Alyssia Ross, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relative and friends. Patricia will be deeply missed by all. She will mostly be missed by her Special Friends Marvis Brown and Florence Bastian. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Robert and Cora Johnson, her parents Beatrice Johnson and Lester Chapman, a sister, Stephanie Johnson, a brother Robert Johnson, two nephews Ryan and Aaron Johnson, a sister-in-law Theresa Oubre Johnson. And a host of other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend are invited to attend a Funeral Service at First Baptist Church, 1244 Magnolia Heights, Vacherie, La on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 10:00am.
