Oswald Scott

Oswald James Scott was born April 7, 1932, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Doc Scott and Juanita Donsureaux and was raised by Juanita and Clarence Hudson, Sr. He was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and joined the United States Army upon graduation at the age of 22. Oswald was a long-time employee of Avondale Shipyards. February 19, 1955, he married his high school sweetheart Ethel Mae Pruitt and through their union 4 children were born (Oswald Jr., Linda, Karl and Karla). Oswald was a devoted husband and father who believed strongly in family. He was compassionate to all who knew him and enjoyed discussing his two most favorite subject’s sports and politics. On Tuesday May 10, 2022, Oswald departed to join his wife after a prolong illness. He never let his illness stop him from being independent and caring for his self. The doctors did not understand how he was able to live with the many health challenges he had, but only when they got too tough for him to bear, did he ask God to bring him home. He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel Pruitt Scott, parents Doc Scott and Juanita Donsureaux Hudson, Clarence Hudson, Sr., and sister Joyce Hudson Ricks. Oswald leaves his children to continue on his legacy Oswald Scott,(Jennifer) Linda Farinas (Felix), Karl Scott (Dinah) and Karla Harrison (Jeff), 10 Grandchildren Guy, Dominique, Sydney, Paul, Rashawna, Jamie, Drew, Kaylin, Felix, Peyton, 3 Great Grandchildren Joshua, Jaila, Al’ Jae , 2 Godchildren Patricia Donsureaux Tapp and Keith Johnson of New Orleans. Oswald leaves his siblings Clarence Hudson of New Orleans, Alvin Donsureaux of New Orleans, Valencia Scott Eaton of Houston, Keith Scott of Houston and sister in laws Lucille Donsureaux of Houston Texas, Claudia Hudson of New Orleans and Leola Pruitt of Elton, Louisiana, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who he deeply loved. Funeral services will be held at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Avenue New Orleans, Louisiana 70125 on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at 10:00 am. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am. Apostle Darrell L. Johnson, Sr., BTh., will be officiating. Interment will be at Providence Memorial Park Cemetery. Due to COVID-19, the family request that all attendees where facemask.
