Marion Burns Alexis

Marion “Momo” Carrie Burns Alexis entered into eternal rest at her home surrounded by family on March 9, 2018 at the age of 86 years old. She was the daughter of the late Carrie and Emile Burns. She was a longtime employee of St. Charles Avenue Frostop, and later Ted’s Frostop Diner. She is preceded in death by her husband Elijah Alexis Sr., five sisters: Rosie Clement, Florence Duplantis, Nancy Burns, Helen Clements Alexis, Mary Burns, five brothers: Emile Burns, Willie Clements, Clarence Thompson, Sam Hester, and Nolan Clements Sr., one daughter in law, Mildred Alexis, one son-in-law Kirk R. Jackson Sr., and one great-grandson Elijah Bentley. As a loving mother and grandmother, she leaves to cherish her memory her five children Elijah Alexis Jr., Nolan Alexis Sr. (Dorothy) of Gonzales, LA, Sandra A. Jackson of Gonzales, LA, Sharon Alexis, and Marilyn Alexis, ten grandchildren: Irvin Wallace Jr. (Tamiko), Cassandra Alexis, Dr. Kirk R. Jackson Jr. (Dr. Maisie) of Pearland, TX, Kristopher Jackson of Gonzales, LA, Kolin Alexis Sr. of Baton Rouge, LA, Nolan Alexis Jr., Giezelle Alexis, Elijah Camel, Trudy Camel, Joan Camel, eleven great-grandchildren: Rashan Wallace, Tyrianne Wallace, Cameron Wallace, Adelle Alexis, Madison Jackson, Olivia Jackson, Kolin Alexis Jr., Dahlia Montana, Korina Camel, Dante Camel, and Sara Camel and one godson Nolan Clements Jr. Relatives and friends of the family, pastors, officers and members of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, Christian Fellowship Cathedral, Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care, Senior Council on Aging, Employees of Ochsner Healthcare Center, Aetna Healthcare Services, The First Step Youth and Family Services, Salvation Army, AAA Care, Mary McLeod Elementary School, Episcopal School of Baton Rouge, and Advance Auto Parts are all invited to attend the funeral services. Services will be held Saturday March 17, 2018 at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 3219 Danneel Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70115. Visitation and final viewing will begin at 8am until service time beginning at 9:30am. Rev. Christopher J. Arvie will be officiating.
