Lynn Marie Mitchell

Lynn Marie Mitchell fought a good fight, finished her race and kept the faith. Lynn transitioned peacefully on February 12, 2026, at the home of her sister and brother-in-law. She was born on February 7, 1950, to the late Ruffin Mitchell Sr. and Rosemary Johnson Mitchell. A woman of deep joy and vibrant spirit, Lynn loved her family fiercely and showed up for them in ways both big and small. Whether it was a holiday gathering, a birthday call or simply sitting and talking for hours, she made the people she loved feel seen and cherished. A proud New Orleanian at heart, she lived for Mardi Gras season and counted down the days each year to Jazz Fest. The Krewe of Muses held a special place in her heart, and she looked forward to receiving her Muses shoe every year, a tradition that brought her immense happiness. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Louis Riley, III; her siblings, Ruffin Mitchell, Jr., Frances (Sylvester) Johnson and Talmadge Mitchell (Martha); and her bonus sister, Eva Washington Anderson. She also leaves a host of beloved nieces, nephews and extended family members who adored her and will forever carry her spirit with them. Through life’s joys and challenges, Lynn remained faithful, loving and strong. As the Scripture reminds us, “Henceforth there is laid up for her the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to her on that day” (2 Timothy 4:8). Her life was a reminder to celebrate fully, love deeply and never miss a parade. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
