Louise Jackson Hankton

Deaconess Louise Jackson Hankton entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 26, 2018. She was born in Raceland, Louisiana to the union of Willie Jackson Sr. and Susan Langman-Jackson. She was one of twelve siblings. Louise accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church in Raceland, Louisiana under the leadership of the late Pastor George Robinson. She obtained her education in the Lafourche Parish Schools. Louise met Earl Hankton, Sr. “The love of her life” and they were united in holy matrimony. They moved from Raceland to New Orleans shortly after their marriage. To their union was born their son Earl Hankton, Jr. After arriving in New Orleans, Louise became a member of Loving Four Baptist Tabernacle under the leadership of the late Pastor E. L. Cooper Sr. It was after that when she joined and became an active member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church under the Pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Ruben Watts, and then the late Reverend Pete Varnado, Jr. At Pleasant Valley, she was a faithful and dutiful worker of the Usher Board, the Deaconess Board, and the Beautifying Club. Louise also attended Sunday school regularly. After Hurricane Katrina her membership then moved to Greater Little Rock, Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Stephen J. Lockhart and Pastor Joshua Palmer. After the death of her husband, Louise moved to Grand Prairie, Texas and attended the New Life Bible Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor Kedric L. McKnight. Louise worked many jobs during her life; however, she was a long-term employee at Towel and Linen in New Orleans as well as Borden Products in Harahan, Louisiana where she retired. “MaDeal and Auntie Louise”, as she was affectionately called to most was known for her excellent culinary skills and her deliciously made from scratch homemade desserts. Her specialties were caramel cakes, German chocolate cakes and sweet potato pies just to name a few. Her hospitality was second to none. Louise loved to entertain in her home and was a loving wife, a great mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, aunt, loyal friend and a true believer in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Louise was feisty, proud and straight forward. She was someone you could talk to when you needed to get something off your chest or when trouble was overwhelming you. Her words of advice always came with “God is Good”, “God is always on time”, and “God didn’t bring you this far to leave you”. Encouragement was one of her specialties. She leaves to cherish her loving memories to son Earl, Jr. (Carolyn); four grandchildren Chanda Hankton, Christy Hankton Price (Gregory), Earl Hankton III and LaMonica Hankton; five great grandchildren - Gregory Torrence, Ceairra Price, Teyana Harness, Chanel Harness, and Cayla Price; One sister-in-law Christine Jackson; godchildren Gayle Sylvester and Calvin Jackson and a host of endearing nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. Louise was proceeded in death by her husband of 75 years, Earl Hankton, Sr.; parents - Willie Jackson, Sr. and Susan Langman-Jackson; three brothers - Willie Jr. (Gladys), Charlie and Joe (Mable), eight sisters - Josephine Price (Albert), Rosie Sam (Peter), Cecil Dulin (Andrew), Ida Thomas (Early), Lizzie Charles (Samuel), Louella Sylvester (Alfred), Alma Jackson (Elliot) and Susie Charles (Leonard). Three brother-in-law’s - Ernest, Joseph, and George Hankton Jr., three sister-in-law’s - Josephine Hankton, Louise Hankton Kelly, and Ida Hankton Lawson. She was extremely proud of her family the Jacksons and the Hanktons. To God Be the Glory! Relatives and friends of the family are invited the home going celebration at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 5919 Morrison Rd.
