Lorraine Fields

Lorraine Santia Parker Fields passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at St. Margaret’s at Mercy Nursing Home in New Orleans surrounded by family and caretakers. Lorraine, “Lo” Fields was born June 24, 1921, the daughter of the late Lancaster and Georgiana Moonie Parker. She was the spouse of the late William Fields and mother to three daughters, Dorraine (Isaac) Porche, Dianna (George) Thomas, and Arjell (Nathaniel) Dorsey. She was a seamstress for Rutter-Rex Manufacturing for 55 years, until she was 72 years old. Lorraine was a force of nature: passionate, unwavering in her love and determination to provide for her family. She was powerful, in body and spirit, and moved through the world without fear. Lorraine worked hard to convey Christian values and a strong work ethic to her many charges. She held her Holy Bible as precious, and the name of Jesus was never far from her lips. She never lost her love for sewing and family members proudly work her handiwork. Her sage wisdom for navigating life’s difficulties was delivered with quick wit and in keeping with the Parker family’s unique brand of storytelling. She was full of warmth, mischief, and music. Her family meant everything in the world to her, and she expressed this often. Lorraine will be dearly missed and remembered. Lorraine Santia Parker was preceded in death by her sisters, Millie Florence Parker Glapion and Vivian Theresa Magee; her brothers, Lancaster Joseph Parker, Jr., George Arthur Parker, Albert Fred Parker, August Jules Parker, Joseph Ferdinand Parker, Paul Michael Parker, Vincent Paul Parker, and Louis Joseph Parker; her sons-in-law George Thomas and Nathaniel Dorsey as well as her grandson Robert Thomas. Lorraine is survived by her sister, Elorial Ann Parker Monette, Sr. She was a loving mother and provider for three surviving daughters: Dorraine Ker Porche, Dianna Fields Thomas, and Arjell Sibley Dorsey. Lorraine was a loving grandparent to her many grandchildren, whom she adored: Christina Porche, Donna Porche-Frilot, Isaac Porche, John Porche, and Joshua Porche; George and Alecia Thomas, Stephanie Thomas Jordan, Nathaniel Dorsey, Jr. and Jared Dorsey, Sr. She is survived by great-grandchildren Leopold and Julian Frilot; Brianna, Jacob, Jean-luc, and Bailey Porche; Harper Porche, as well as Robert, Jonathan, and Vivian Thomas; Devin and Cameron Jordan; Alexia Porche, Alana Porche, Tia Walker, Cara Porche and Caasi Porche; Pascal, Ysabella, and Gabriella Porche, as well as Brooklyn Jacque-Dorsey, Jaylin, and Jared Dorsey, Jr. She is beloved by hosts of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and caretakers. Family and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at St. David Church, 5617 St. Claude Avenue, New Orleans, LA on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery No. 3.
