Joann Edwards

Joann Danielle Edwards was born September 15,1980 in New Orleans, La. to John Davis and the late Jacqueline Edwards. During her adolescent years, she accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and was baptized at First Evangelist Baptist Church by the late Rev. Warren Taylor. Joann received her educational foundation in the Orleans Parish School System and attended Booker T. Washington Senior High School. On Saturday, October 29,2022 she laid as a patient at Touro Hospital surrounded by her family the Angel of Mercy was instructed to release her of her pain and suffering. As she heard her name Joann held her baby Edward in her arms and stepped aboard the Chariot of Eternal Life. She looked up the gates open waiting was her mother, aunt and uncles. Joann leaves to cherish her memories her children; Calvinisha, Makael, and Katilyn Edwards. Father John Davis, grandmother Doreen Davis; Devoted companion Edward Harris, Sr. Aunts Lottie Irving-Nelson and Dianne Edwards and Catherine Jones;uncles, Antoine and Markee Edwards. Cousins, Jeanne Jordan, J’Mar Westley, Larry Brown and Kenneth Irving. She was preceded in death by her son Edward Harris Jr, mother Jacqueline Edwards, grandparents, Joann “Boo” Washington and Ulus Edwards, Aunt Dianne Jordan, cousins Gary Jordan and Aaron “Ram” Irving. Edward Harris Jr was the son of Edward Harris, Sr and grandson of Augustine Hubbard. Funeral services for Joann “Shorty” Edwards & Baby Edward Harris, Jr will be held Saturday, November 12,2022 at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Homes 3933 Washington Ave. New Orleans, La. Pastor Bishop Chante’ H. Sutton, TH.D, Officiating Services. Viewing will be 9:00 clock a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. Members of First Evangelist, Fifth African Baptist Church and Destiny Institute Church; Employees of Walmart, Ochsner and Ochsner Dietary Main Campus, Labor Ready, The Hotel Monteleone, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and members of Buckjumpers traveling club, New Orleans Men and Ladies Buckjumpers, YMO, Hot 8, and Stooges Brass Band and all other Secondline and Brass bands, and all other relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services.
