James Arnold Cousin

James Arnold Cousin entered into eternal rest on April 17, 2023. James was born in Lacombe, LA to the late Joseph Clairville Cousin and Lorine Laurent Cousin on February 22, 1949. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Nanette N. Cousin of Houma, LA, his children Jacques A. Cousin (Myesha), Jeanne N. Cousin and his four grandchildren Mekhi C. Emilien, Jacques A. Cousin II, Myah C. Emilien and Maddox J. Emilien. James was preceded in death by siblings Raymond Cousin (Marie), Joseph Chester Cousin (Beverly), John Claiborne Cousin (Myrna), Willard Cousin (Lorraine), Christine Cousin Narcisse (Freddy), and Robert Cousin. He is survived by siblings Irene Santa Marina (Samuel), Ida Boutte (the late Ronald), Annette Cousin (the late Maurice), Gene Cousin (the late Jeanette) and a host of nieces and nephews. James was a proud graduate of Chahta-Ima High School and Xavier University of Louisiana. Following college, James began his professional career as assistant manager at Woolworth in Houma, LA. He went on to further his career as branch manager for American General, retiring in 2006, then as an AVP Consumer Lender for Liberty Bank, where he remained employed until his passing. James was a devout catholic and parishioner of Transfiguration of The Lord Catholic Church. James was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who prided himself in being a family man. He always went above and beyond for his family. James loved to bar-b-que and loved spending time outdoors. He was a proud scholar, who gave great advice to family and friends. It is said that there are some people in life that make you laugh a little louder, smile a little bigger and live a little better. James was definitely one of those people. Relatives, friends of the family and colleagues are invited to the funeral services at Transfiguration of The Lord Catholic Church, 5621 Elysian Fields Ave., New Orleans, LA on Monday, April 24, 2023. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am with a mass of Christian burial at 11:00 am. Interment will be at St. Patrick No.3 Cemetery, 143 City Park Ave., New Orleans, LA. A celebration of life will follow at the CYO of the Archdiocese of New Orleans Building, 2241 Mendez St. New Orleans, LA (located behind Transfiguration of The Lord Church).
