Hamp JP Norflin

Mr. Hamp “JP” Norflin was born in St.Francisville to his late parents Hamp and Zayzelle Noflin. Hamp Norflin, 84, peacefully transitioned on May 31st, 2023. Hamp gave his life to Christ at an early age at Union Bethel Church in St.Francisville, LA. He graduated from Dawson High School. During his years in St.Francisville, he learned to farm, garden, and hunt. Hamp moved to New Orleans, where he met and married the love of his life, the late Alfreda Butler Norflin. They relocated to California and met Paul and Cathy Bacigalupi (best friends). In 1978, Hamp and Alfreda opened J and P Superette in New Orleans, La. throughout the years he was observed planting flowers, putting golf balls and shelling pecans. He is survived by three loving daughters, Jayzelle Norflin, Pamela Norflin, and Mia Norflin Moore (Keffer Moore) and two granddaughters, Gabrielle Norflin and Amaya Windham. He is survived by three sisters Mattie Hollins, Doretha White, and Hilda Johnson and two brothers Andrew Noflin (Renee) and Arthur Lee Noflin( Rose). He is preceded in death by one sister (Mildred Grisby), two brothers (Earl Noflin and Ephrim Noflin) and sister in law (Harlean Banks Butler). Hamp is survived by his three godchildren, Wendy, William and Jeff Bacigalupi. He leaves behind a host of family and friends including nieces and nephews along with a longterm companion, Martha Montgomery. Hamp Norflin worked as an entrepreneur and continued to be a leader in his community where he participated in gardening and golfing. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
