Grace J. King

A loving Mother, Daughter, Sister, and Aunt passed into God’s hands suddenly on November 21, 2015. Grace was a dedicated and involved Mother to her son Aswad Bobb. Grace was a wonderful example of faith, hope, charity and service. Daughter of Beatrice M. Lett and the late Leophus S. King, Sr. Grace attended A.F. Owens Elementary School in Mobile, AL. She graduated from Central High School in Mobile, AL. She continued her education at Dillard University and received a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. It was doing this time that Grace was initiated as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She later received a Master’s in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. Grace practiced as a registered nurse for over 35 years. She served each patient with dignity, respect and true compassion. Professionally, she held many high ranking positions and was well respected in the field of nursing. Grace loved life and her family; she was a spirit filled woman of God that greeted everyone she met with love and a kind smile. She enjoyed cooking, traveling and caring for others. She will truly be missed. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother Beatrice M. Lett of Atlanta, GA, beloved son Aswad G. Bobb (Alicia), companion Jimmie Bobb, siblings Yolanda J. King, Yvette A. King, Kenneth M. King of Atlanta, GA, Michael R. King (Iretha) of Baton Rouge, LA, David King of Auburn, AL and Ivan R. King of Detroit, MI; niece Anitra Jarreau (Alvin) of Eight Mile, AL; nephews Alexander Kennedy (Leah) of Bowie, MD, Travis King and Terrell King of Baton Rouge; LA; grandnieces Amber and Avi’ance Jarreau, Zoey Clement, grandnephews Alvin Jr., Austin, Adam and Dean Kennedy and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Leophus S. King Sr., brother Leophus S. King Jr., sister Cheryl King and step father Henry Lett. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Living the Word International Church, 2528 Old Spanish Trail, Slidell, LA. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Interment: St. Louis #3 Cemetery. Arrangements handled by D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home in New Orleans, La.
