Florence W. Adams

Florence W. Adams, 89, a native of New Orleans, LA peacefully departed this world on Saturday, October 19, 2024, in The Sanctuary at Passages Hospice. She entered this world on Sunday, May 5, 1935, to the late John Richardson, Sr. and the late LueRenza Sterling. She was the sibling of John Richardson, Jr. (Sarah), Rose Lee Forward (John), Marie Lee (Arthur), Emma J. Shepard, Pearlie M. Smith (Robert), and the late Willie Richardson. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband: James Adams, Jr., her daughter: Deborah A. Jordan and son-in-law: John Jordan, 2 sisters-in-law: Levator Cain and Eliza Harris and stepson: Alfred Williams. She leaves to cherish her profound memory, her son: Kenny Adams, Sr. and stepdaughter: Gladys Jackson, 3 grandchildren: Demetrius, Sr., Kiesha and Kenny, Jr., 6 great grandchildren: Demetri, Asheley, Demetrius, Jr., Byron, De’Amynie, and Ava, 17 great-great grandchildren, 1 sister-in-law: Lillian Hollingsworth and a cousin to whom she was always a mother figure: Dinah A. Sam; followed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, other relatives and friends. She graduated from John Dawson High School in 1955 and immediately married her high school sweetheart. She accepted Christ as a child while attending Afton Villa Baptist Church in St. Francisville, LA. She joined Pigrim Progress Missionary Baptist Church after moving to NOLA, where she remained a faithful member for over 60 years. She worked as a dental assistant at 1st & Claiborne Dental Office for over 40 years before retiring. Post-retirement she went on to work part-time, while tirelessly serving her family, friends, church and community for many more years. Her phenomenal legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone who was blessed to have known her. Family and friends of the family, also employees of 1st & Claiborne Dental Office, Touro Infirmary and The Sanctuary at Passages Hospice, also pastors, officers and members of Pilgrim Progress Missionary Baptist Church are invited to attend the funeral service at 10 AM on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at D. W. Rhodes Funeral Home, located at 3933 Washington Ave. in New Orleans, LA 70125. Rev. Roy Williams – Officiating. Visitation will begin at 9 AM to 10 AM. Interment will be held at Restlawn Park Cemetery and Mausoleum in Avondale, LA
