Edwin Peter Bocage Jr

Edwin Peter Bocage Jr. (Ed, Bo, Rosie, Bo Baby, Daddy Bo, and Uncle Ed), all the names that he was affectionately known as by his family, friends, and co-workers, transitioned into his eternal life in Heaven on July 16, 2021 at 11:00 pm at the age of 71 at Ochsner Westbank Center in Gretna, LA. Edwin was born on January 25, 1950 to the proud parents of Edwin P. Bocage Sr. and Violet Mathieu of Algiers, LA. His grandparents were the late Peter Bocage and Pearl Yates Scott Bocage and Charles Mathieu and Georgiana Legeaux Mathieu. He was the brother of Miriam B. Haydel (the late Byron Sr.) and the late Eleanor B. Small (the late William Sr.) of Riverside, California. His Godparents were the late Warren Lombard and Lorena Mathieu. Edwin was married to Andrea McBride for 48 years and they had two sons, Damian married to Nedra Dubuclet and Corey Bocage. He was a son to the late Stanley M. McBride and Leola Medice McBride, and a brother to Bishop Cheryl McBride Brown of Milwaukee, WI. Edwin attended All Saints Catholic Elementary School, St. Augustine Catholic High School and the Naval School of Music in Norfolk, Virginia. He would follow in his grandfather Jazz Musician Peter Bocage's footsteps by playing the trumpet. He was a member of All Saints Elementary School Band, the St. Augustine Marching 100 Band, U.S. Marine Corp Marching Band and Jazz Ensemble Bands. He was employed for 35 years at Bell South as a Lineman and Cable Splicer. Edwin was an original member of The Party People Carnival Club Truck Crew first with Crescent City Truck Parade then transferred to the Elks Orleanians Truck Parade. Edwin was the Godfather to Robert Bocage IV, Keith G. Ellsworth Jr. and Noelle Johnson. Devoted cousin of Ronald DuPart of Maryland and Robert Bocage III. Family and Friends of Edwin are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at All Saints Catholic Church at 1441 Teche St. Algiers, LA 70114 on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 10:00 am. Visitation will begin at 8:00 am, Rosary at 9:00 am. Fr. Peter Weiss, SSJ will serve as Celebrant. Interment will be at Restlawn Park Cemetery on US 90 Highway, in Avondale, LA.
