Edna Jane "Gee" Breckenridge

Edna Jane Breckenridge, affectionately known as "Gee," age 77, formerly of New Orleans, Louisiana, departed this world on Sunday, December 14, 2025. She was born on October 7, 1947, in Jasper, Texas, and later settled in New Orleans with her family at a young age. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Master Sergeant Edmond Breckenridge and Stella Breckenridge. As the eldest of five children, Edna mourned the loss of two siblings, Dadra Robinson and Debbie Abrams. She is survived by her sisters, Yvonne Qwens (Rev. Richard Owens) of Houston, Texas, and Pamela Hill (Mr. Humphrey Hills Sr.) of Waterloo, Iowa. Edna graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1965 and attended Meadows Draughons Business College in the early 1970s. In her career, Edna worked for Logan's Cab Company as a Dispatcher and LaFon Nursing Home as a Nursing Assistant from the late 1960s to the early 1980s. Edna had three children, including her eldest, Stella Breckenridge, who preceded her in death in 1993. Edna's surviving children are D’Andreus Breckenridge Sr. (Mrs. Erika Breckenridge) and Christian Breckenridge (Mrs. Ayana Breckenridge). Edna was a cherished grandmother to five grandchildren: D’Andreus Breckenridge Jr., Eric Breckenridge, Tahj White, Trenton Breckenridge, and JayVonne Sider. She also left behind a host of beloved family members, nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces, including her eldest nephew, Walter Robinson (Mrs. Bridget Robinson), her beloved niece-in-law and caretaker, and friends. Edna cherished her faith and served as an usher for many years at Greater Power Baptist Church, New Orleans, Louisiana. She was currently the mother of the church at Believers Temple of Faith Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. Edna’s devoted love for God has brought her to a place of peace in her faith. She often reflects on one of her favorite scriptures, Psalm 46:10, which reads: "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." From this, we can learn the importance of resting in God's sovereignty and trusting in His promises. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Funeral Services at Believer’s Temple of Faith, 4422 Ray Ave., New Orleans, Louisiana on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 11:00am.
