Doris P. Augustine

Doris Marie Polk Augustine, 48, of New Orleans, LA passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014. She graduated from McDonogh 35 Senior High School in 1983 and continued on to receive a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Loyola University of New Orleans. She became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) after passing the CPA exam on her first try. Doris was married to Jesse Augustine, Sr. on April 16, 1988; they were married twenty-six years. Doris worked as an Appeals Officer for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for twenty-six years, and she was an active member of Pilgrim Progress Missionary Baptist Church. She was a part of the Pastor Support Ministry; Adopt-A-Grandparents Ministry, Pre Women Department, Youth Counselor and song with the John Francis Chorale Choir. She was a member of the Association for the Improvement of Minorities (AIM) in the IRS for 15+ years, serving as secretary of the local chapter; she was a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) preparer for over 20 years. Doris is survived by her spouse (Jesse, Sr.), two children (Jesse, Jr. and Alexis Nicole), parents (Irene Polk and Joseph McClendon), father & mother In-law (Hilton and Emily Augustine) ,step-father (Cornelius Breaux), one brother (Troy Polk), three brothers-in-law (Adrien, Hilton(Glenda), and Walter(Mary) Augustine), two sisters (Linda(Donald) Lamotte and Joyce(Donald) Saulny), one sister-in-law (Dirgni Augustine), a host of nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends. Doris is preceded in death by one daughter (Ashley Nicole) and one sister-in-law, (Lynette Augustine) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at Pilgrim Progress Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Melvin J. Johnson. The church is located at 3600 Loyola Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70115. Visitation will be held from 8:00-10:00 a.m. Burial will follow the funeral at Metairie Cemetery.
