Donald Philip Joseph Sr.

Donald Philip Joseph Sr. affectionately called “Duck”, was born on November 4, 1960 to the late Casimere M. Joseph Jr. and Delphine Sneed Joseph. He worked as a Water Purification Technician for Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans until his retirement. Duck departed this life on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 11am. He was 60 years old. Duck was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, however he lived many years in Destrehan, St. Rose, and LaPlace, LA. Duck was a proud graduate of George Washington Carver Sr. High School in the famed ninth ward of New Orleans. He was a devoted member of St. Phillip the Apostle Catholic Church, Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, and Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church throughout the entirety of his life. Duck was the devoted husband of the late Ventress M. Joseph. He loved and adored his wife throughout life and after her death. From their union, Duck and Ventress had 2 loving sons, Donoven D. Joseph and Donald P. Joseph Jr., both of whom he cherished greatly. Duck found much delight in raising them to be remarkable and very strong men. Duck was the devoted brother of the late Genevieve Johnson, Herbert, Oscar, Casimere III, Ronald, and Patricia Joseph. He leaves to cherish his memory, his sons, Donoven and Donald Joseph Jr. , 2 brothers William P. Joseph (Lynell Joseph) and Thomas R. Joseph, and two sisters Debra A. Joseph and Anna J. Ceasar (Gilbert Ceasar), Lifelong friends Dwan & Theophile Haydel, and Craig “Kevin” Dennis, along with a host of Godchildren, nieces, nephews and close friends. He took much delight in his newest, and to him his most important, title of “PawPaw” to Khidrelle Spurlock, Melanie, Marcus and Donald Joseph III. Duck never met a stranger, and made innumerable friends who will always remember him for his upbeat spirit and very healthy sense of humor. Relatives and friends of the family, also all departments of Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans, former members of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church and School, Graduates of G.W. Carver Sr. High are invited to a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 7300 Crowder Blvd. Visitation and viewing will begin promptly at 10:00 am. As mandated by the State of Louisiana due to the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance is limited. Everyone is required to adhere to all restrictions. You must wear a face mask at all times and practice social distancing. Interment: St. Louis # 3 Cemetery. Arrangements by entrusted to D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, New Orleans, LA.
