Donald Ray Fisher Sr.

Donald Ray Fisher, Sr. was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to the union of Matthew Fisher, Sr. and Ethel Bracken Fisher. Donald Ray has nine siblings: Ethel Mae Brue, Joann Bernstein, Matthew Fisher, Jr., Annette Robinson, Linda Rae Allen, Anthony Fisher, Sr., Deborah Larkins, Solomon Fisher, and Barbara Fisher. Donald Ray and his wife Nadja were united for the last fifty plus years of his earthly life. Donald Ray was the father of four children, Donald Ray Fisher, Jr., Samuel Thompson, Tierra Washington-Fisher, and Donna Renae Fisher. Three grandchildren were proudly raised in the Fisher household, Jessica, Jasmine and Savannah Rae, along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Donald Ray enjoyed sitting on the porch drinking coffee with his cousins Renae and Mario Septer as often as possible and the loving company of close family friend Arlene Culpepper. Donald Ray received his education in the New Orleans Public School System. He was employed as a Master Carpenter and founded Fisher Home Improvement, LLC. Donald Ray accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He was baptised at St. John Baptist Church on Panola Street in New Orleans, Louisiana. Twenty years ago, Donald Ray and his wife Nadja joined Second Baptist 6th District Church where he became a member of the Sanctuary Choir, remaining a member until his transition on October 11th at 6:30 am, surrounded by a loving family from near and afar. Donald Ray leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife Nadja Thompson Fisher, two sons Donald Ray Fisher, Jr. and Samuel Thompson, Tierra Washington-Fisher and a daughter who preceded him in death, Donna Renae Fisher. Donald Ray was loved by a host of relatives, nieces and nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and family and friends. Donald Ray was preceded in death by his parents Matthew Fisher, Sr. and Ethel Mae Bracken Fisher, Ethel Mae Brue, Linda Rae Allen, Annette Robinson, Barbara Fisher, and Anthony Fisher, Sr. The Fisher Family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and acts of kindness. Viewing will be at Second Baptist 6th District Church on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 9 am to 10:30 am., 4218 Laurel Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70115. Service begins at 11 a.m., following viewing. Interment will be at Providence Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 8200 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana following the service. The repast will take place at 10711 Chef Menteur Highway, New Orleans, Louisiana.
