Debra Ann Henry

Debra Ann Henry passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the age of 63. She was born on January 4, 1955 to the late Rev. Harry Henry and Sis. Dessie Henry and was the 11th of their 12 children. She attended MaCarty Elementary and George Washington Carver High School where she played clarinet in the band. Debra accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized. She attended New Jerusalem Baptist Church where she sang in junior choir directed by her sister, Shirley Henry. She later joined Old Zion Baptist Church where Rev. Harry Henry was the pastor. Debra’s last membership was with Christian Mission Baptist Church pastored by Rev. Charles M. Daniels where she attended faithfully and served on the deaconess board. Debra’s favorite hymn was Amazing Grace. Her favorite scripture was Romans 8:28. Debra is survived by 3 children, Maria Ann Daniels of Baton Rouge, Gerald Peter Daniels (Chenequa) of Plano, TX and Damon Gerod Daniels of Austin, TX; (Baby doll Arissa Henry); 1 godson, Peter Washington; 1 aunt Katherine Brown of Milwaukee, 2 sisters, Annie Washington and Sandra Henry both of Texas; 2 brothers, Larry P. Henry and Abdul Ansari of CA. She is also survived by 2 devoted friends, Pat Brown Ankum and Alicia Canatelle; 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by 5 brothers, Jethro, Moses, James, Sidney and Hammam Ansari Henry; 2 sisters, Shirley Henry and Ruth Johnson; 1 godchild, Kithy Deedy Alexander; 1 great grandson, Corey Jacoby Garner, Jr. and a devoted companion, Clarence William Collins, II. Relatives and friends of the family, pastor, officers and members of Christian Mission Baptist Church are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Christian Mission Baptist Church, 1477 N. Robertson St. on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 7:00 pm. Dismissal will be held at Christian Mission Baptist Church, 1477 N. Robertson St. on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 10:00 am.
