Cheryl Marie Roberts

Cheryl Marie “Shakey” Roberts departed this life on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the age of 55. She was born to the union of Odessia and Robert C. Lewis, Jr. in New Orleans, Louisiana. At an early age, she was baptized at Friendship Baptist Church. Cheryl grew up in the Hollygrove neighborhood and graduated at the top of her class from Alcee Fortier Senior High School. She continued her education at Moler Barber and Beauty College where she received her cosmetology license. God blessed Cheryl with the honor of becoming a mother, giving birth to Kennesha Weber. Later, she married Terrence S. Roberts, Sr. and to this union they were blessed with two children, Terrion and Terrence S. Roberts, Jr. For a short period of time, she resided in Jacksonville, Fl. and later returned back to New Orleans because in her mind she felt “There was no place like home.” Cheryl was the life of any party; she loved spending time with her family and mostly her grandchildren. One thing we all could agree upon about Cheryl, was that she always spoke her mind and kept it real! She was a “Unique, Authentic Individual.” Cheryl leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Terrence S. Roberts, Sr.; her father, Robert C. Lewis, Jr.; two daughters, Kennesha Chapital (Richard) and Terrion Roberts; one son, Terrence S. Roberts, Jr.; one stepdaughter, Tiesha Roberts; six grandchildren, Alaysia, Anilah, Thailand, Derrick, Ty and Mariah; two sisters, Denise Lewis-James (Jerome) and Tierriah Lewis; one brother, Julius (Jake) Rollins; one niece, Chelseney; two nephews, Sidney and Kyran; one great niece, T’yanna. She was preceded in death by her mother, Odessia J. Lewis; one sister, Karen Lewis and one brother, Michael Lewis. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Friendship Baptist Church, NOLA East Church of Christ and employees of HRI Properties are invited to attend a Funeral Service at D.W. Rhodes Chapel, 3933 Washington Ave. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 9:00 am; Visitation begins at 8:00 am; Interment: Providence Memorial Park Cemetery; Arrangements by D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home.
